‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Spoilers, Watch New TV Spot [Video]
As the big day nears, fans keep hearing about Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers that are all the talk on social media, but we will also try to review a few of the things that we do know.
Not too many facts surrounding the new, massively-anticipated J.J. Abrams production are known. Fans were told by the director and Lucasfilm producer, Kathleen Kennedy, that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30-years after the Battle of Endor, which concluded the original trilogy in Return of the Jedi and saw the destruction of the second Death Star.
It would be fitting for Abrams to include main original cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) and see them as they have aged in real life. Luckily for fans of the original trilogy, all the actors were available and up for the task. Now, fans can’t wait to see what they’re up to in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
SPOILERS may follow, be warned!
Fans have been hit with what seems to be teaser after teaser for the past few weeks (no one’s complaining), as well as toys and a variety of related merchandise. Still, there is much audiences don’t know about what we will be seen on December 18, when the blockbuster is finally released.
J.J. Abrams first declined the offer to lead the Star Wars movie revival. It had been widely believed that 2005’s, Revenge of the Sith was the very last film of the franchise fans would get to see. After the shock of learning film creator George Lucas sold the Star Wars rights to Disney came the announcement that a new movie was in the works. Fansboys and girls were beyond excited.
After Abrams was in place to direct what is expected to be the biggest film to come to theaters in years, fans found out that the cast would included the beloved original characters. As the months leading to the release have gone by and we near December 18, more and more Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers have been revealed.
Ready? Let’s go.One of the biggest mysteries surrounding The Force Awakens is, where in the world is Luke Skywalker? Photos are impossible to come by and the only known (leaked) image of our hero is one that was revealed earlier this year, as reported by the Inquisitr.
The Luke Skywalker photo shows a bearded Mark Hamill wearing a robe, much like his master, Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) did in the original Star Wars: A New Hope. There are all sorts of rumors floating around the Internet, including one that Hamill himself helped start.
The veteran actor was spotted filming on the remote Irish island of Micheal Skellig last summer. This Star Wars: The Force Awakens fact led many to conclude Luke Skywalker has lived in seclusion since the events of Return of the Jedi, but others have speculated that the reason for Hamill’s absence from all teasers and merchandise is that he has turned evil.
It wouldn’t be the first time that a main Star Wars character has turned to the Dark Side. Most famously, Anakin Skywalker (Luke’s father) became the hated Darth Vader. The theme of characters struggling with good and evil is prevalent throughout the franchise. But, despite the Dark Side theory, nobody really knows why Luke Skywalker is missing from the publicity.Another big mystery this time around is the identity of Rey (Daisy Ridley), one of the several new main characters. Abrams revealed that he kept her and Finn’s (John Boyega) last names a secret, as to not give away their true identities. Most fans believe Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia, who has been abandoned (to protect her?) on the planet Jakku and lives in a ship graveyard as a scavenger.
Let’s not forget that Luke Skywalker lived in Tatooine with his aunt and uncle to keep him away from Darth Vader and he really didn’t know his true identity until the Empire cames looking for him. Abrams is continuing with the theme of strong female characters and Rey certainly seems to fit the bill.
Most of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teasers have featured Rey and Finn (whose last name is also secret). We know Finn is a renegade Stormtrooper, but we don’t know his back story and why he left the First Order, who now rules the galaxy far, far away.Coming up is a massive (but not unexpected) Star Wars: The Force Awakens SPOILER! According to Cinema Blend, a recent ad for a The Force Awakens puzzle on Amazon might have “revealed how Finn fits into the larger Star Wars universe, as the product description refers to him as Lando Calrissian’s (Billy Dee Williams) son. But, who is his mother?
Abrams will bring us a new set of villains and at this point they’re all a big mystery, but Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his cross lightsaber is probably the one fans are most intrigued about. Many have the thought that he could be the son of Han and Leia (in the comic books, they have three children). Could the First Order villain be Rey’s evil twin? That is the million dollar question.
We are only a few weeks away from finally watching the big blockbuster and more Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers are sure to come between now and then. Watch the latest TV spot below?
