Bora Of SISTAR Shows She’s A Sone At Girls’ Generation Phantasia Concert
In K-pop, there are often strong rivalries among idol groups. This is especially true pertaining to the girl groups. Simply go back to 2009 when Wonder Girls and Girls’ Generation constantly battled each other for the top spot, a rivalry that still exists to this day. However, that rivalry along with almost all rivalries in K-pop are usually friendly. Outside of their idol identities, members of K-pop idol groups are often friends. Amber of f(x) is probably a prime example of such, as she is friends with Taeyeon and Hyoyeon of Girls’ Generation, Min and Jia of miss A, Ellin of Crayon Pop, Brad of Busker Busker, Woori of Rainbow, Aron of NU’EST, Rome of C-Clown, Jackson of GOT7, and Park Joon Hyung of g.o.d. (all of them have been featured in Amber’s music video for her track “Shake That Brass“).
Now another member of one K-pop idol group is showing her support for another rival K-pop idol group. Reports show that Bora of SISTAR has shown she’s a Sone by attending Girls’ Generation’s Phantasia concert.
According to Korean news outlet Nate, the K-pop idol girl group held their Phantasia concerts on Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, 2015. The venue was held at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. During the event, Girls’ Generation performed many of their biggest hits, especially the ones off their recent album Lion Heart. Needless to say, it was a memorable night for all Sones in attendance, especially for Bora of SISTAR. As a matter of fact, Bora posted up pictures of herself at Phantasia on her official Instagram account including a picture of her two glow sticks which she tagged Taeyeon and Tiffany.
Bora supporting Girls’ Generation is very understandable given the fact that her best friend is Girls’ Generation member Tiffany. Their relationship was made known while competing on variety show Fashion King Korea, as reported by AllKpop. Back then, both girls expressed how excited they were to be on a program together. Tiffany provided a little bit more information in her statement, detailing how they were able to spend time together despite being in different K-pop idol groups as well as signed to different labels.
“Because Girls’ Generation and SISTAR’s promotion periods don’t overlap, Bora would come over to my house and I would go over to her house whenever we had breaks. Because we never appeared on a program together, we are very excited.”
Bora and Tiffany’s best friendship would once again become news in July of this year when they were featured together in a “best friendship” pictorial for Cosmopolitan, as reported by KpopStarz. Tiffany shared some of the shots from the pictorial on her official Instagram including a “See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil” candid shot.
To be frank, the relationships between Girls’ Generation and SISTAR aren’t exclusive to Bora and Tiffany’s best friendship. Bora is technically friends with all of Girls’ Generation, something that happened while participating on Invincible Youth with Girls’ Generation member Sunny. Hyoyeon was also on the variety show too, but Bora cites Sunny as the person who got her close with the rest of Girls’ Generation. Also, Girls’ Generation member Seohyun is close to SISTAR member Soyu.
Both Girls’ Generation and SISTAR recently finished promotions for their latest K-pop idol girl group projects. For the former, it was their recent album Lion Heart, the first as an eight-member group after the exile of Jessica Jung. For the latter, it was their mini-album featuring their summer song “Shake It.”
