‘Star Wars’ Releases New Trailer That Focuses On The Villains And The Dark Side Of Kylo Ren
Star Wars fans received a new treat on Thanksgiving Day as a new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released. The latest trailer focuses on the villains in the new Star Wars trilogy and heavily features Kylo Ren, the latest villain.
As reported in the Hollywood Reporter, the new trailer, which is about a minute long, opens with a voice over from Supreme Leader Snork.
“There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?”
With the use of the voice over, the new trailer resembles the first trailer that was released a year ago, only this time the viewers hear Kylo Ren answer “yes.” Other new scenes in the trailer feature Han Solo and Chewbacca. The new scenes are more menacing than previously released, and the trailer includes plenty of previously unreleased footage. Much of the new footage features new combat sequences that include Han Solo and Rey firing weapons while the stormtroopers are seen engaging in combat.

The New York Daily News reported that where the previous trailers focused on the heroes, the latest trailer focused on the villains. The opening scene shows an army of stormtroopers at Kylo Ren’s command. Fans also get a glimpse of the aerial battles often seen in previous movies as Oscar Isaac’s character Poe Dameron flies out leading a squadron of X-wing fighters to fight the Empire’s TIE Fighters. As with all the previous trailers that have been released, the Jedi hero Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, has yet to make an appearance.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, some fans believe the reason that Luke Skywalker hasn’t made an appearance is because he’s really the villain of the story, Kylo Ren. Movie Pilot gave five reasons why they believe that Luke Skywalker is really Kylo Ren while other fans insisted the idea is absurd.
In a round table discussion in 2006 with Kevin Smith, Mark Hamill said he believed that Luke Skywalker would eventually turn to the Dark Side of the the Force. Although Hamill is listed second only to Harrison Ford in the movie credits on the posters, Luke Skywalker is never seen on the movie posters or in the trailers. Although Adam Driver was cast to play the part of Kylo Ren, Driver is never seen on the movie posters either.
Rumors have continued to emerge about the fate of the characters in the movie. Fans have speculated that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will see the death of fan favorite Han Solo while others have speculated that Chewbacca will die. Other rumors have included the return of Hayden Christensen in Episode VIII to reprise his role as Darth Vader. Since family relationships are important in the Star Wars series, fans have also speculated that the latest episode will reveal a family relationship, possibly between Rey and Kylo Ren.
The latest Star Wars trailer, which appeared on Facebook on Thanksgiving Day, was viewed over 1,500,000 times by fans. Episode VII is expected to break many box office records when it debuts. Star Wars: The Force Awakens appears in theaters on December 18.
