‘Arrow’ Star Emily Bett Rickards Promises ‘Grandiose’ Moments For Olicity In Season 4, Will That Include An Engagement?
As Season 4 of Arrow continues to unfold, many fans are eagerly waiting for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) to finally pop the big question to Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). Although it still isn’t known exactly when Oliver will propose to Felicity, Rickards recently sat down with ET Online and promised fans that something big was ahead for the couple.
Rickards discussed a variety of topics related to her characters relationship with the Green Arrow during the interview, including her interactions with Amell and how their chemistry has grown over the years. When asked if there were any crazy moments in store this season, Rickards stated that some “heart-wrenching” days were ahead for Olicity.
“Oh, yes. There’s a lot more Olicity coming up that is actually going to be pretty heart-wrenching.”
Unfortunately, Rickards did not go into any details as to what this entails. Instead, she hinted that it could be a number of different things, including an event that comes with potentially devastating consequences.
“Whether or not it’s a dramatic fight, or devastation, or a big life change, there are a few more concepts that are going to come up in their lives that are huge and provide grandiose Olicity moments,” she shared in the interview. While this certainly leaves fans hanging on what to expect in future episodes, it has already been confirmed that Oliver will propose to Felicity during season four. According to ET Online, Amell stated that the proposal would occur “sometime during this season,” and at the same time admitted that hiding the ring in a bowl was “the stupidest place to keep it.”
With an engagement set to happen this season, how will Felicity react after Oliver pops the big question? Of course, many don’t expect her to say no, though Rickards seemed a little vague on that point. “She’d probably be like, ‘Oh my God!” Rickards said. “I mean as her answer I think she’d probably be very excited. She’s totally in love with him, so why wouldn’t she say yes? Unless there [were] some secrets being kept…”
At the same time, Amell also discussed what is in store for Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow as their relationships continue to develop this season. “Even though one of them is my sister [Thea], and the other two [Diggle and Laurel] are life-long friends and people that I care about and love, and another one is someone that I am in love with and actively dating and considering proposing to, so that is a growth point for Oliver,” Amell explained.
Meanwhile, with a death having been foreshadowed earlier this season, it is possible that the tragic event Rickards was referring to has something to do with this death. With that in mind, which character will the show decided to kill off this season? Is there a possibility that it might be Felicity?
Although it really could be anyone at this point, many do not expect it to be Felicity. That being said, Amell did leave the question open by hinting that anything is possible. “They can kill off anyone,” Amell said. “Modern television has proven to us that you can literally kill off anyone.”Based on the flash forward scene that included Oliver mourning by an unknown grave, the only thing that is clear is that the death is likely someone close to the Green Arrow. Whomever this turns out to be will undoubtedly shake things up for the entire Arrow team.
Fans can watch and find out when Oliver proposes to Felicity as Season 4 of Arrow continues Wednesdays nights on The CW.
