MTV ‘The Challenge’ Contestants Dish On Their ‘Bloodlines’ For Season 27, Plus Watch An All New Preview
The competition is sure to get ramped up as MTV’s The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines is set to start its 27th season. In fact, in a new preview released by MTV, several contestants on the hit game show dished on their various counterparts as they get ready to battle it out for the ultimate crown.
The upcoming season marks a new format of the hit series, which will feature contestants from The Real World, Are You The One?, and Road Rules competing with their various siblings and relatives. With that in mind, Cara Maria is seen in the video expressing confidence in her cousin, despite this being his first stint on the show.
“I really have no concerns about Jamie — we’ve got great teamwork,” she stated in the clip. “Every ‘Challenge’ is different — you never know what is going to happen. If anything, he should be worried about me.”
In reply, Jamie seemed to agree with his cousin’s statements. “We get along — we communicate well,” he said. “I trust her, she trusts me.”
Although Maria and Jamie seem to be on the same page, the same can’t be said of Tony (Real World: Skeletons) and his younger brother, Shane.“I would say typical little brother, big brother relationship,” Tony shared. “We bump heads, we get into it. But at the end of the day, I love him and I put nothing else in front of him.”
Meanwhile, in another preview video released by MTV, Johnny Bananas weighed in about his own cousin, Vince. While Johnny admitted to being a tad bit obnoxious at times, he did reveal that his cousin is his polar opposite.
“I’ve kind of always been the louder, more over-the-top, obnoxious one,” Johnny explained. “He’s always kinda been the calm, cool, collected, quiet one.”
For his part, Vince seemed a little nervous to be working with the likes of Johnny, who is trying to claim his sixth win on the show.
“The guy is the champ, you know what I mean?” he stated. “Defending the crown — so everyone is going to want to knock him out of the game at some point, and that plays onto my game too.”
At the same time, there are two contestants who feel as though their close bond as twins will enable them a sure victory. In fact, according to Fashion & Style, Thomas Buell (The Real World: Ex-Plosion), and his brother, Stephen, are supremely confident that their bond as twins will be a determining factor in the competition.
“Being a twin will definitely give us an advantage in this competition. Since we’ve been with each other for 23 years, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses,” Stephen explained. “No one’s gonna have that leading role. I think we have a one-up on everyone else who brought their cousins. Being twins will definitely be a strength.”
However, Thomas did admit that they haven’t exactly seen eye to eye in the past.
“We got into a fight once. I punched him in the face, broke his nose and [I] got knocked out,” Thomas stated.
That being said, Thomas did explain that he and his twin have no secrets or past beefs that will hinder their efforts in the competition. Furthermore, he stated that anything that has happened in the past between them — including the fist fight — is old hat.“Everything that has ever happened between us we’ve kind of smashed right then and there.”
Fans will have the opportunity to get a first look at all of the contestants when The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines hits televisions December 2 on MTV.
