Khloe Kardashian Cancels Promo As Staph Infection Causes Painful, Scary Symptoms: Why She Must Avoid Lamar Odom
Khloe Kardashian has been spending much of her time in recent weeks by the bedside of Lamar Odom as her estranged husband recovers from the brain damage he suffered as a result of what’s being described as a drug overdose. In addition, Khloe has been contributing to the main family show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, trying to make time for boyfriend James Harden, and doing publicity for her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked. All that stress may have finally taken its toll on Kardashian as she suddenly cancelled a book signing promo, reported ABC News.
“Dolls! So sorry I needed 2 re schedule my book signing. I’m sick & dr’s orders are that I need to lay low until we narrow down what’s wrong,” tweeted Khloe to fans. “Ill be going for more testing today. I’m very sorry again. Stress can run our bodies down so please everyone take care of yourselves.”
An insider claims that Khloe has symptoms ranging from a fever to swollen glands, describing her ailment as an infection, reported E News.
Another source told E! News that Kardashian was being treated and mainly needed to rest.
“[Khloe] has a minor infection and is being treated by her doctors. She is run down as she has been burning the candle at both ends. She will be fine but needs some rest,” added the second insider.
However, what’s wrong with Kardashian is more than stress: It’s also been diagnosed as a “serious staph infection,” according to TMZ.
Rather than stress, it’s the staph infection that forced Khloe to cancel, an insider told TMZ. The severity of her condition required Kardashian to cancel part of her much-anticipated publicity tour for Strong Looks Better Naked.
Contracted at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where Khloe has been visiting Lamar regularly, the staph infection has resulted in some intense symptoms. The source told TMZ that Kardashian has swollen glands, a high fever, and is suffering from an extremely painful lesion on her leg. In addition, Khloe is experiencing chills varied with sweating.
“It’s so scary. She’s so sick,” the insider told TMZ of the 31-year-old reality TV star.
As a result of that staph infection, Kardashian is forced to stay away from Odom, reported Hollywood Life.
Although Khloe has been faithfully visiting her 36-year-old estranged husband throughout his medical crisis, she risks other patients as well as Odom if she visits him now in the hospital, Dr. Barry M. Rose from San Francisco’s California Pacific Medical Center told Hollywood Life.
“Going back to the hospital should not occur until the infection is brought under control, lest she spread it to hospitalized patients,” explained Dr. Rose. “Unless she needs to go to the hospital to get treated herself or get surgery herself.”
As the Inquisitr reported, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian just took their little daughter North West to visit Odom, so he still has family to support him. However, for now, Khloe herself needs to stay away for the health of her husband.
As for whether the hospital environment resulted in the infection, Dr. Rose confirmed that it is possible.
“One cannot say for certain that Khloe got a staph infection from being in the hospital with Lamar, but it is certainly possible. Since he was in the ICU, and presumably she was there, and the ICU is a place where many pathogens are prevalent, she might have gotten it from there. She also could have acquired it in the community, or from other personal contacts she has had recently,” added the expert.
For treatment, she may need to take antibiotics, but the nature of the prescription for her infection will depend on the severity, according to Dr. Rose.
