Watch Justin Bieber Rock ‘Sorry’ Performance On ‘The Tonight Show,’ Race In NASCAR Relay
Justin Bieber rocked his performance of “Sorry” on Tuesday night’s edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with the excellent Roots on band support.
The 21-year-old superstar swung by NBC’s flagship late show for the second time this year in support of his now-released album Purpose, which currently tops 30 iTunes charts around the world (it previously topped 53 earlier this week), including the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and Canada. The album dropped on November 13.
“Sorry,” an upbeat anthem asking for forgiveness, was the second single released from Purpose. The LP is the Biebs’ first full-length record since 2012’s Believe, and is tracking for a No. 1 spot on the Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 albums chart next week.
For his Tonight Show spot, Justin was decked in a Fear of God ensemble of beige pants, a long white tee-shirt, and a blue and white striped shirt. The stylish heartthrob teamed these with white Vans and a grey beanie.
The Biebs’ rendition on the show is the most spirited yet of the dancehall-beat song. The Canadian star performed an acoustic version of “Sorry” during his week-long stint on The Ellen DeGeneres Show just last week. But this is the first time the singer played a full-out band version of the track.
The song is No. 3 on the iTunes U.S. Sales and Singles chart, after slipping from No. 2. It is No. 1 on the U.K’s iTunes chart.
During his interview with DeGeneres on her show, Bieber confirmed “Sorry” was partly directed to his former girlfriend, Selena Gomez, along with his worldwide No.1 smash “What Do You Mean?” and “Mark My Words.”
Justin didn’t sit down for a chat with Fallon during the show, but he did take part in a fun, NASCAR-themed “Tonight Show 500” segment with famed Sprint Cup drivers Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, and actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson to race in a relay around Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
For the show, the drivers used mini-cars instead of typical NASCAR rides. Not surprisingly, the footage is pretty funny.
Actress Rooney Mara and Ferguson were both interviewed by Fallon on the show. Check out a video of the race below.
Bieber previously appeared on The Tonight Show on September 2, days after the release of “What Do You Mean?” and his tears-capped MTV Video Music Awards performance.
In his Billboard cover story a few weeks later, Fallon said the Biebs unexpectedly pulled out of appearing in a planned sketch on his show. However, it looks like the funnyman host doesn’t bear a grudge, as the singer was invited back.
Before last night’s Tonight Show episode aired, the pop star shared updates prompting his social media followers to tune in.

Justin will perform a concert on the Today show this morning. Earlier this week, he revealed that indie-pop songstress, Halsey, and the rapper Big Sean will join him. So it looks like “The Feeling” and “No Pressure” will be part of the set.
Bieber was booked to be interviewed by Today co-anchor Matt Lauer on Monday. However, Gossip Cop reported Monday that the show and the singer’s team mutually agreed to postpone the sit-down so that the program could focus on its intensive coverage of the recent terror attacks in Paris last Friday.

The “Sorry” hitmaker retweeted teases of his Wednesday concert and told fans he sees the show as a celebration of his Purpose album. Critical reception to the album has been mostly positive, and its release is widely seen as the final seal on Bieber’s successful comeback to his career.
