Matt Drudge Calls Out Hillary Clinton On ‘Wig,’ Starts Conversation On Twitter

In a year of increasingly odd politics, famed blogger Matt Drudge of news aggregator website The Drudge Report is now calling out Hillary Clinton on whether or not she wears a wig. He even went so far as to start a conversation stream on Twitter on Wednesday entitled, “Can we talk about Hillary’s wig?”

The Daily Mail reports that not only did Drudge start a conversation about it, but he posted multiple photos that included captions to suggest that she was wearing a wig. He also deleted every other tweet in his feed so that it would only include five tweets that all related to Hillary’s hair.

The basis of Drudge’s allegations that the Democratic presidential candidate’s hair is not her own rests on his assertion that observers are never able to see her scalp. Coverage on The Drudge Report itself kicked off the conversation with the headline, “Wigged Out: Hillary Gives Up Hair Battle.” The article linked directly to @DRUDGE, Drudge’s official Twitter page.

Social media has responded with both good-hearted humor and serious debate about Drudge’s claims, with some setting up fake Twitter accounts appropriately named Hillary’s Wig, others creating and sharing memes, and yet others replying to the original question with their own theories.

To make matters worse, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, himself the frequent subject of hair debates, is also weighing in on the question. According to The Spread It, Trump made an appearance on the Mark Levin show where he made a couple of his own observations.

“Well, she has a new hairdo, did you notice that today? I tell you what it really was shocking to see it because you’re right it must be, it was massive. Her hair became massive. I don’t care. I’m a person that tells the truth. You know it was interesting to see but I’ve never seen Hillary with that hairdo so I think that’s an OK thing to say, but it was very different.”

It seems that Trump stands on the pro-wig side of the table.

The Spread It also writes that Jimmy Fallon confirmed that what we see is indeed Hillary’s own hair when she appeared on his show earlier this year. She offered to let him feel it. He pulled it and then made a surprised exclamation.

“It is real, it’s real, it’s real. It is real and it has wave and it is fantastic and it smells great.”

Wikipedia profiles Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton as the wife of former president Bill Clinton. She is currently the 67th United States Secretary of State. She is a former U.S. Senator and is now a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate.

Matt Drudge is a former McDonald’s manager. He eventually launched The Drudge Report in 1996 and works as an editor and political commentator for the site. The Drudge Report has more than 320,000 Twitter followers as of this writing.

Clinton’s official hairstylists deny the allegations that the hair that we see does not grow out of her scalp. In fact, one of her stylists referred to her hair as “the most amazing hair in the world.”
