Sachin Tendulkar Fans Troll British Airways After Airlines’ Twitter Account Asks For The Cricketing Legend’s Full Name
The official Twitter account of British Airlines has done something that has invoked the wrath of over 1.2 billion Indians. Earlier today, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, the most popular sportsperson in the country who was flying British Airways, tweeted about the a not-so-pleasant experience he had with the airline. It all started with a tweet from Sachin’s official Twitter handle.
Angry Disappointed and Frustrated.. #BAdserviceBA Family member’s Waitlisted ticket not confirmed despite seats being available (1/2)

This was followed up by a second tweet in which Sachin Tendulkar complained about his baggage being lost and sent to a different location. Sachin even used a hashtag #NeverOnBA.
And luggage being tagged by @British_Airways to wrong destination and don’t care attitude! #NeveronBA (2/2)

By this point, this had already become a major PR disaster for British Airways, thanks to the 8.4 million strong Twitter following that Sachin boasts who take note of each and every tweet the “God of Cricket,” as he is referred to, makes. However, it didn’t end there. Being the customer friendly company that British Airways is, the unknown person handling the Twitter account sent out a canned reply to Sachin that might just end up as one being a career-changing moment for him.
British Airways tweeted, “We’re sorry to hear this Sachin, could you please DM us your baggage ref, full name and address so we can look into this for you?”

By this point, all hell had broken lose. The large Twitter community from India wasted no time in trolling British Airways. For many, it was unimaginable that someone could ask the full name of Sachin Tendulkar, the legend. All British Airways could have done was to do a Google search, which would have simply taken them to the Sachin’s Wikipedia page. Soon, British Airways became the No. 1 trend in India, something British Airways would have loved were it on a slightly more positive note. Tweets joked about how Sachin would make British Airways pay for the “sin” that they have committed. We have embedded some hilarious ones below.
Rest of the World- In search of God. British Airways- In Search of God’s luggage.

Sachin Tendulkar is in the midst of playing an All Stars T20 cricket series against another cricketing legend Shane Warne’s team. The matches are being played in various locations across the United States, where the sport is not that well known. Two matches of the three-match series have already been played. Sachin was on the way to Los Angeles for the third and final match on Saturday when the British Airways gaffe happened.
Interestingly, this incident also came at the same time Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on an official visit to the United Kingdom. British Airways has still not officially commented or reacted to the gaffe. At the time of publishing this article, the tweet from British Airways still remains and continues to be retweeted.
For those of you who do not know who Sachin Tendulkar is, here is a brief lowdown. The 42-year-old former Cricketer from India is widely regarded to be the best batsman ever to play the game of cricket. Sachin boasts several records, including the highest number of international centuries, the most number of runs by any international cricketer and the maximum number of matches played.
