Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Back Together On ‘The Vampire Diaries’? Plus, Which Classic ’80s Reboot Is She Attached To?

Despite rumors that Nina Dobrev may be getting back together with Ian Somerhalder on the newest season of The Vampire Diaries, it appears as though the actress is ready to move on with her life. According to Venture Capital Post, Dobrev is leaving her Vampire Diaries days behind, relationships and all, and is moving on to other projects.

Apparently, this includes a new man in Dobrev’s life. In fact, the actress is currently in a relationship with Austin Stowell. Although the two have been rather quiet about being together, they both recently confirmed their relationship status via social media.

“That weird moment when you realize you don’t follow your girlfriend on Twitter… #socialmediaproblems @ninadobrev,” Stowell wrote on his Twitter page.

“That awkward moment when u realize ur not following him either & gotta do it real fast b4 he realizes,” Dobrev responded in her own Twitter post.

Clearly, the two are officially dating and having a fun time with their relationship. This should go a long ways in clearing up some of the speculation that has surrounded Dobrev in recent weeks, especially the rumors concerning her attempts to get back with Somerhalder.

With that in mind, Dobrev has been at the center of rumors that she will be returning for a short appearance in the upcoming season of The Vampire Diaries. These reports, of course, naturally led to speculation that Dobrev may be using her new boyfriend in order to make Somerhalder jealous.

However, going by their latest interactions on social media, it would appear as though things between Stowell and Dobrev are genuine and that their relationship is just fine. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said of Somerhalder, who is reportedly having issues with his current wife, Nikki Reed.

The main source of contention between Somerhalder and Reed has been his desire to have kids and start a family. Apparently, Reed is not ready to settle down just yet, and the arguments between the two might indicate a breakup is ahead for them. Hopefully, they can reach an agreement and work things out, especially considering how well Dobrev seems to have moved on.

That being said, Somerhalder’s desire to have a family is one reason why things did not work out between him and Dobrev. Given the fact that Ian Somerhalder has let this issue ruin his relationships in the past, it is unclear if he will be able to push past the issue and remain with Reed.

Meanwhile, in regards to Dobrev moving on from The Vampire Diaries, the actress is getting ready to try her hand in a number of new projects, which includes a possible Baywatch reboot. Does this mean fans will be able to see Dobrev suit up in a red bikini on the big screens?

According to the Daily Mail, casting for the female roles in the film are still ongoing, but Dobrev is currently competing against Alexandra Daddario, Shelley Hennig, Ashley Benson, Alexandra Shipp, Denyse Tontz, and Bianca Santos as potential leads in the movie. Whether or not the former Vampire Diaries star is selected for the part is yet to be seen, though her past TV experience should give her a slight edge.

Although the final casting selections for the female roles are yet to be finalized, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron have been cast as the male leads in the ’80s reboot. Additionally, the film is expected to be more humorous in nature, and although details are unknown, it is expected that it will primarily focus on California beaches.

The film, which is being directed by Seth Gorden (Horrible Bosses and Identity Theft), is set to start production sometime in 2016.
