The Brooks Ayers cancer scandal has taken another turn. Now Brooks is finally admitting that he lied about something, but it isn’t the fact that he has cancer. E! Online shared today that Brooks is admitting to fabricating the medical documents that he recently shared with the world. When they first came out, there was a lot of talk about how the documents looked weird.
Ayers actually gave E! Online an exclusive statement today with the details. Brooks is apologizing for what he did and admitting the truth. At least he isn’t throwing Vicki Gunvalson under the bus on this one.
“Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki [Gunvalson]’s knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest. I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren’t true simply for a ‘storyline’ for the show.”
Brooks is speaking out because yesterday City of Hope shared that they never treated Brooks Ayers for cancer. Now that they have shared this information, Brooks has to admit that he made up the documents or he will just look worse to everyone. After this statement about lying, Brooks went on to share his apologies.
“From this day forward, my own personal journey with this disease will remain private as I initially intended over a year ago. My sincerest apologies to my family, friends, loved ones, and those who are battling this horrid disease for any additional pain and/or stress that I have caused. As [University of Louisville basketball coach] Rick Pitino once said, ‘Mistakes can be good. They are fertilizer. Everything I’ve learned about coaching [life], I’ve learned from making mistakes.’ I made a mistake yet I have learned a huge lesson as well.”

At this time, Brooks Ayers is still saying that he has cancer and will not admit that this part was a lie. Ayers makes it sounds like he just didn’t want to share his actual medical documents or where he got treatment with the ladies. Brooks actually showed documents that aren’t even really available to patients online, including invoices and bills. He also didn’t do a very good job fabricating the documents, considering that the logo on his papers was different than the real logo for City of Hope.

E! Online shared that some of the women of The Real Housewives of Orange County are now speaking out about their thoughts on City of Hope sharing that Brooks Ayers was never treated at their facility. Meghan King Edmonds has been very nice about it all and shares that she is praying for Brooks Ayers. Tamra Judge admits to not being shocked by the news that City of Hope never treated Brooks Ayers, but says she hopes he gets better if he has cancer or not. Shannon says it is odd that Vicki Gunvalson shared that she spent four hours with Brooks Ayers at City of Hope while he got chemo, since that chemo never really happened.
Are you shocked to hear that Brooks Ayers is now admitting to making up documents that he was treated for cancer? Do you feel like Brooks ever really had cancer in the first place? Sound off in the comments below on your thoughts, and don’t miss the big Bravo special where Andy Cohen is interviewing Brooks Ayers when it airs on Thursday, November 12. This should be the last time that Brooks speaks out in an interview about his cancer battle. It was already recorded before this news came out.
