‘The Flash’ Season 2 — Could Zoom Be Felicity From ‘Arrow’? Plus Is Barry Ready To Face Him?
Although Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) managed to take down his biggest foe to date at the end of Season 1 of The Flash, Zoom may prove to be one of his darkest opponents yet. In fact, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gustin talked about how facing down Zoom is not something Barry is quite ready to do.
“He’s got his demonic quality to him,” Gustin stated in the interview. “As soon as Barry is face-to-face with him — like right in front of him battling with him — it becomes immediately clear to Barry, ‘Maybe I’m not ready for this.'”
At the same time, Gustin also revealed that Zoom is one of the darkest villains that Barry has come face to face with over the first two seasons. This is something that is not only true with Barry, but will also translate to fans as well.
“It’s pretty scary. It’s going to be one of the more disturbing things, I think, that the viewers will have seen happen to Barry. It’s not pretty,” he stated. “He’s much stronger and faster, and Barry’s not necessarily ready for this, but he thinks he is.”
Apart from the fact that Zoom is an infinitely dark character who has master plans for Barry, the biggest question that still remains is who is hiding behind the mask? While this mystery has certainly led to a number of different theories as to which character Zoom will turn out to be, Gustin had a few suspicions of his own.
“I think it’s Felicity (Emily Rickards),” he joked. “A lot of people think it’s Henry Allen (John Shipp), some people think it’s Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), some people think it’s Barry from Earth-Two.”
Although Gustin obviously can’t reveal the identity of Zoom, he went on to hint that he might not even know who it is.
“There are infinite possibilities, really,” Gustin explained. “It could really turn out to be a number of characters. To be honest, I don’t really know the answer, so I’m not sure.”
Meanwhile, along with Zoom making a bigger impact on the show, the series also recently introduced Doctor Light. According to Den of Geek, it turns out that Doctor Light is none other than Linda Park from Earth-Two.
Just how Doctor Light will play into the plans of Barry and his team in the coming episode are yet to be seen. However, she won’t be the only person that might try and prevent Barry from taking down Zoom once and for all.
In fact, according to Design & Trend, one member of Barry’s team is very hesitant to see the speedster try and take out Zoom.
“[Caitlin is] very cautious, particularly because she does have so much faith in Jay (Teddy Sears) and so much trust in Jay, and he’s been so wary of Zoom,” Danielle Panabaker stated.
“She really takes that to heart,” the actress continued. “She is especially concerned with Barry taking on Zoom, because he’s so much of an unknown — his motivations are unclear. He’s already a darker villain than Reverse Flash [Tom Cavanagh] was, so he’s clearly willing to go pretty far to get what he wants.”
Luckily, the gravity of the situation isn’t going to be lost on Barry and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), who will develop a fully thought-out plan to take down Zoom.
“Cisco and Barry know together that the best way to take down this villain is to think things through, and to work together to really give it time, and to train,” Valdes stated.
The second season of The Flash continues Tuesday nights on The CW.
