When Gigi Hadid split with Joe Jonas, she had her best friend, Kendall Jenner, and a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to boost her supermodel spirits. Add in mom Yolanda Foster, who, despite her battle with Lyme disease, has always been there for her daughter, and Gigi has a strong support system despite her ruined romance.
Hadid and Jonas ended their relationship because they had conflicting schedules, an insider told People .
“Joe and Gigi’s relationship recently ended,” confirmed an insider. “Nothing serious happened… it wasn’t a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends.”
Gigi and Jonas (known as “G.I. Joe”) first started their relationship in the summer. They confirmed romance rumors when the duo braved the red carpet at the Global Lyme Alliance inaugural gala in New York. At the event, Yolanda Foster of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame, received a tribute for all she has done on behalf of Lyme disease sufferers.
But then Gigi and Joe went their separate ways. For Halloween, the supermodel was alone at the big bash given by Heidi Klum each year, while Joe was also solo at a separate event.
Prior to dating Jonas, Gigi was with Cody Simpson.
But Hadid has much to be positive about despite the recent wrecked romance. She and her BFF Kendall Jenner , at just 20-years-old, are scheduled to stride the catwalk for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, reported Business Insider .
The significance of that fashion presentation isn’t just within the room. Over nine million viewers annually watch the show in the comfort of their homes. Add in the best friends’ Instagram followers, which total almost 50 million, and Gigi and Kendall can anticipate many eyes upon them as they wave their coveted Victoria’s Secret angel wings.
And sometimes three’s company instead of a crowd. Supermodels Hadid and Jenner have formed a girl pack with their model friend Cara Delevingne, according to the Daily Mail .
The trio enjoy partying as well as just spending time together shopping and having glam squad fun. But while Kendall and Cara are currently enjoying life, Gigi has been having more challenges in her life.
For Hadid, it’s not just the split from Jonas that’s been hard, however. Gigi recently became emotional when it was revealed that in addition to her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom Yolanda Foster, two of her siblings also have been diagnosed with Lyme disease , reported Entertainment Tonight .
Yolanda announced the sad family news during her acceptance of an award. The tribute was made at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala. Foster shared that out of her three children, two of them also suffer from Lyme disease.
Gigi discussed her heartbreak when she learned that Bella and Anwar Hadid have been impacted by the condition.
“I’m the only one in, of my siblings, my mom and my family that hasn’t been affected by Lyme disease,” said Hadid through her tears. “It’s been really hard for me because I’m the only one that doesn’t really understand it.”
In addition, Gigi said she feels that while she seeks to support her mother and siblings, it’s challenging because she herself has not suffered with the symptoms of Lyme disease.
“What’s been hardest for me is just trying to find a way to be their hope and kind of be a strength for them even with the disease that I can’t understand fully because I haven’t been through it,” said the supermodel.
However, the family stays closely bonded, and that has provided invaluable support. Bella emphasized how much benefit she’s received from the close family ties.
“I mean my sister is my best friend, my mom is my best friend, my brother is my best friend,” said Bella. “And you know when we need each other we’re always there and you know automatically no matter what we have.”
