Burt Reynolds Still Misses Sally Field, The Actress Responds To Revelation Uttered By Her ‘Smokey And The Bandit’ Co-Star
Burt Reynolds and Sally Field had a 5-year relationship over 30 years ago, and the Deliverance star still regrets losing her. During an interview with Vanity Fair for his soon-to-be released memoir, But Enough About Me, Reynolds said Field was the love of his life.
Sally Field is a very private person, and declined the opportunity to share her thoughts about the “still missing her” comments by Burt Reynolds when the media caught up with her at the Women’s Media Center Awards.
Sally Field did state that at that point, she said she had not yet heard about Reynolds’ revelation and always likes to keep her personal life private, People magazine reports. Field turned 69 on Friday.
“I didn’t hear that yet. I have no response, really, and any response I would have would belong to him,” Field said.

Burt Reynolds and Sally Field split in the early 1980s. Field married and divorced Alan Greisman in 1993, and they had three sons together.
Reynolds says he still regrets letting her get away. The Smokey and the Bandit star opened up about his finances and the women of his life during an interview for the December issue of Vanity Fair.
Sally Field, like Burt Reynolds, 79, is not currently married. Some die-hard fans of the former couple and their 1970s movies are still hoping they could get back together again.
Reynolds and Field starred together in Smokey and the Bandit, Smokey and the Bandit II, The End, and Hooper.
“I miss her terribly,” Reynolds said. “Even now, it’s hard on me. I don’t know why I was so stupid. Men are like that, you know. You find the perfect person, and then you do everything you can to screw it up.”
Burt Reynolds blames himself for his poor track record with women, the Daily Mail notes. The Hooper star said that he warned his new significant others that is was going to be “awful sometimes.”

“And they say, ‘Oh, no, you’re not. That’s not you.’ And I say, ‘It is me, and I don’t want to be that way. I hate that guy. But you’re going to see him, and I hope you don’t run away from me.’ They always say, ‘I’ll be able to handle it.’ They can’t handle it. And they don’t understand what they’ve done. And it’s not them. It’s me.”

Reynolds also stated during the recent interview that he was not bankrupt and paid everyone back from the bankruptcy he filed in the 1990s. Burt said he just did not manage his money well and unfortunately did not employ the right people to look after his investments and finances. He recently placed his Florida ranch up for sale and reportedly received an offer of over $4 million for the land.
