‘Easter Island’ Statue Face On Mars In NASA Photo, UFO Experts Claim — Can You Spot The Resemblance?
A NASA Mars landscape photo taken by the Curiosity Rover reveals a remarkable stone face carved in a Martian hillside — a face that bears a striking resemblance to the faces of the famous, mysterious statues on Easter Island in the South Pacific, statues that have long been the subject of speculation regarding their supposed alien origins.
The new claim about an Easter Island-style face on Mars comes, not surprisingly then, from two prominent online UFO researchers, who uncovered the alleged “face” carving with a close examination of the following NASA photo.
While the Easter Island face may not be immediately evident from a cursory examination of the NASA rover photo, UFO Sightings Daily editor Scott C. Waring — who has posted numerous similar discoveries both from NASA Mars photos and from the moon and other celestial bodies — zoomed in and juxtaposed the newly “discovered” Mars face with an actual shot of an Easter Island statue.
“This giant face on a hill was found by Mister Enigma of Youtube. He says it looks like the faces on Easter Island and he is correct,” wrote Waring on his blog. “This face is placed on the hill much like George Washington’s face is at Mount Rushmore, SD. As a monument for those who come after, so that they will remember and try to emulate their good deeds.”

Waring and other UFO researchers who dig into the NASA photo archives in search of alien structures are often accused of “pareidolia,” which Dictionary.com defines as “the imagined perception of a pattern or meaning where it does not actually exist, as in considering the moon to have human features.”
In other words, “pareidolia” is seeing what you want to see — like a “man in moon” — rather than what is actually there. But Waring dismisses the accusations of seeing pareidolia as nothing but propaganda.
“That is a word made up by the CIA. Be a sheep and believe that word,” Waring wrote in an earlier post, about a different Mars “face” discovery. “This face is real!”
Waring claims to have discovered about 500 face structures on Mars so far.
In addition, however, Waring says that the photo also shows a pair of houses and an “old man” — the same “old man” discovered by another YouTube UFO hunter, Streetcap1, just a few weeks ago.
“I also noticed that the old man is in it. You know the one last month found by Streetcap1?” wrote Waring. “He is seen with a walking stick sitting down. I found he was next to two small house. NASA blurred the side of the hill so we cannot see the building windows and doors in the hillside. Also I found another face on the hill.”
The Easter Island statues have, for decades, been believed by UFO enthusiasts to be the work of an ancient alien race, or constructed by humans with aid of “ancient astronauts” as a tribute to these supposed extraterrestrial overlords.
Needless to say, scientists dismiss such speculation as unfounded, saying that there is no significant mystery about how the statues were constructed or even why.
“Researchers believe that each head…represented a deceased head of a family or clan. The inhabitants of Easter Island (believed to once number in the thousands) gradually diminished due to internal warfare, slavery and disease,” writes Discovery.com journalist Benjamin Radford. “Thus there remains no real mystery to be answered, by wild speculation about extraterrestrials or anything else.”
The latest NASA Mars face “discovery” comes the same week that NASA plans a press conference, scheduled for Thursday, November 5, to announce new scientific findings about the atmosphere on Mars.
