5 New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Character Posters Released
Disney released 5 new Star Wars: The Force Awakens character posters on Wednesday ahead of the blockbuster’s impending release on December 18.
In a related report from the Inquisitr, Disney released the first official Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster last month.
According to StarWars.com, the new posters show some of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast including Harrison Ford (Han Solo), John Boyega (Finn), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and the villain portrayed by Adam Driver (Kylo Ren). While we know how some of these Star Wars characters are connected, we can only assume what roles the newcomers will have as the franchise moves forward.
Without further to say, lets take a look at the first 5 Star Wars: The Force Awakens character posters.
While we don’t know all the details about the Star Wars: The Force Awakens plot, the fact that Disney released this particular group of character posters together sheds some insights into how all the Star Wars characters may be related. There has been plenty of speculation about who the newcomers really are.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
Director J.J. Abrams added fuel to the fire when he said that he had kept Rey and Finn’s last names secret for a reason. The general belief is that Rey is Han and Leia’s daughter and Finn could be Lando Calrissian’s (Billy Dee Williams) son. We also know that Rey, Finn, Han, and Leia appeared together in the last Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, which debuted during Monday Night Football October 19.
In that clip, Han Solo explains to Rey and Finn, that yes, all the stories about the Jedi, The Force, and The Dark Side are true as they listen mesmerized. We later see Rey crying inconsolably and Han fiercely hugging Leia as a tragedy befalls the couple, which many believe is the death of Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew).
The 5 new Star Wars: The Force Awakens character posters show the group looking somber, which could show the tone of the film. As far as Kylo Ren is concerned, the Star Wars villain is still a big mystery as to how he fits in the narrative, though some rumors claim he is the renegade son of Han and Leia, who turned to the Dark Side, like Anakin Skywalker before him.
From the last Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, we can see the bad guy attempting to follow in Darth Vader’s footsteps as he talks to his mangled mask. We also still don’t know if Abrams brings Darth Vader back in some form, perhaps an apparition such as Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) did with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in A New Hope.
Speaking of Luke, we haven’t seen him at all, aside from hearing his voice in the first full-length Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, and he is missing from the five character posters newly released. We do not expect the Jedi to be revealed until the movie is released, but we know, from statements made by Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, that The Force Awakens tells the story of the Skywalker family.
Considering all the available information, we could assume that the release of these 5 new Star Wars: The Force Awakens character posters is a sign that these particular characters are closely related. But then again, this is just speculation, and the only way to find out is to see the much awaited film on December 18.
