Is Alessia Cara Next Up To Join Taylor Swift’s Power Squad? [Video]
Alessia Cara is a newer name to the entertainment business, but once you’ve made it into Taylor Swift’s power squad, things can’t be too hard, right?
Alessia Cara, so far best known for her cover work, which she posts to her YouTube channel, is still relatively new to the music industry. Her musical career really did start off thanks to her YouTube covers, and earlier this year, the 19-year-old was officially signed on with EP Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings. While she may have a meager 101,203 followers on her personal YouTube channel, and another 174,361 on her VEVO channel, her fan base may soon see a huge spike thanks to Taylor Swift.
Alessia Cara was the latest artist to be featured on Taylor Swift’s “1989” world tour. According to Entertainment Weekly, this very well could be a sign that Alessia has just been inducted into Taylor Swift’s power squad, alongside the likes of Gigi Hadid, Nelly, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Mariska Hargitay, and more.
Taylor had Alessia join her on stage as a part of her final U.S. stop of her “1989” world tour. The two performed on Saturday, October 31, in Tampa, Florida, to a crowd of 55,000 fans, according to Billboard. While the fans sure seemed to love the performance of Alessia’s debut single, “Here,” it seems as if it was Alessia herself who had the most fun!
Alessia Cara took to Instagram to post not only photos, but also a video of her performance, and with every post, she seemed to get more excited over her Halloween performance.

Yes, like many who wish to be apart of Taylor’s power squad, Alessia admitted to the world that she would forever frolic around in her “1989” world tour robe, and honestly, who could blame her? It’s like her very own badge of honor!

What happened last night, indeed. No, it wasn’t a Halloween prank, Alessia, you really did just perform for thousands alongside the almighty Taylor Swift!

And to conclude her posts, Alessia gave a great big shout out to Taylor herself, calling her the “classiest, sweetest, most lovely person.” It wasn’t only Alessia Cara who was amazed by the night’s performance! Taylor Swift even took to social media to praise Alessia’s performance, and as if that wasn’t cool enough, even Lorde jumped into the conversation!

While Alessia Cara’s night may have been made by her performance with Taylor, it wasn’t exactly the only exciting moment for Taylor herself. According to an earlier report by the Inquisitr, in the spirit of Halloween, Taylor Swift not only dressed up as Olaf while on stage, but also sang “Let It Go” alongside Idina Menzel, who also dressed up in the familiar blue Elsa dress and cape from the movie. The two reportedly kicked off Taylor’s final U.S. show in their costumes, and after getting a little ways into the song, they both stripped down into other outfits and finished off the song in style.

Talk about a memorable final performance! Reports state that Taylor will be moving on to Asia for the next leg of her “1989” world tour, and fans can only wonder just exactly what Swift may have up her sleeves. Will she continue the tradition of regular guest appearances? Who knows! Everyone will just have to wait and see.
As for Alessia Cara has next on her schedule, Entertainment Weekly stated that the 19-year-old is set to release her debut studio album, Know-It-All, on November 13 under Def Jam Recordings.
