George Zimmerman’s Wife, Shellie, Arrested For Perjury
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who was arrested earlier this year for shooting and killing Trayvon Martin, recently had his bond revoked by a judge who said that he had lied about his access to funds. Zimmerman’s attorneys blamed the false testimony on Zimmerman’s wife, Shellie, who just been arrested on one count of perjury.
WTSP reports that Shellie was arrested for perjury based on the testimony she gave in April. Shellie said that the couple had limited funds for bail despite the fact that more than $135,000 had been raised in donations from a website dedicated to Zimmerman.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Shellie, 25 was arrested this afternoon “at the location she was residing in Seminole County.” Her bond was set at $1,000 and she is currently “in the process of posting bond.”
When Zimmerman’s bond was revoked earlier this month, attorney Mark O’Mara said that Zimmerman was “confused and fearful when he allowed his wife to mislead court officials about the couple’s finances.”
Zimmerman is currently back in prison but O’Mara is hoping to get the judge to issue another bond hearing.
