Lamar Odom Denies Drug Addiction As Khloe Kardashian Pleads For Rehab After Pill Overdose & Crack Cocaine Past
Lamar Odom continues to make progress with Khloe Kardashian by his side. Since Lamar was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, Odom has been fighting his way to a full recovery. And although Khloe was the one who initially filed for divorce, because the actual process was never completed, Kardashian has taken on the role of the former NBA player’s wife in managing his medical care and encouraging him in staying close throughout what doctors say will be a long journey to recovery.
For Lamar, the question of what happens as he becomes strong enough to leave the hospital remains a contentious topic between the ex-basketball champ and Khloe, according to Radar Online.
“Lamar will be released from the hospital in the next ten days,” added the source.
But Odom has not recovered yet. The hospital release will be followed by outpatient visits for physical rehabilitation or by stay in a facility for rehab. However, while either of those options will help Lamar physically, Kardashian is concerned that neither will address his drug abuse, and that’s reportedly why she pulled the plug on their marriage the first time.
“Khloe told Lamar that after he was released from the hospital, he would need to go to rehab for substance abuse addiction. Lamar balked and said no way … Blaming the hookers for his overdose, Lamar is still insisting he doesn’t have a drug problem. He is still in denial,” revealed the insider.
As the Inquisitr reported, Odom thus far has made what many consider a miraculous recovery with Kardashian by his side. While Odom initially was reported to need hours of dialysis daily and a kidney transplant, Lamar now is off dialysis and no longer needs a transplant. And although Kardashian took one break from his bedside to support her boyfriend, James Harden, Khloe has since returned to give Odom her support.
As to why Kardashian has called off the divorce despite her ongoing relationship with Harden, Khloe feels that with the exception of herself, Odom has no one, reported People.
“He’s the first one to say that,” said Khloe.
The 31-year-old reality TV star shared that her 35-year-old husband had few people to back him when he was young.
“He doesn’t have a support system. He has no siblings and his mother passed away.”
Kardashian compared her own support system to those who are there for Lamar. While Joe Odom, his formerly estranged father, and JaNean Mercer, his aunt, are now offering their concern, Khloe contrasts that smattering of relatives with the extensive love that she receives from the Kardashians and Jenners.
The reports that Lamar has drug problems causing a battle between Odom and Kardashian are not new, points out the Daily Beast.
At one point, TMZ incessantly covered Lamar, claiming that Odom was addicted to drugs and cheating on Khloe. In addition, TMZ blamed crack cocaine abuse as the reason Khloe finally decided to call it quits.
Kardashian also reportedly insisted that Lamar stay in a rehab facility in 2012. The following year, Odom responded to being questioned about infidelity by bashing the photography gear of a paparazzi.
Lamar subsequently declined to take a drug test after being arrested for driving under the influence. Khloe then refused to let him enter their house, and Odom did stay in a rehab for a day. As the rumors that Lamar was continuing to use crack cocaine and cheating on her, Kardashian subsequently decided to divorce him in 2013.
As noted, that divorce has since been cancelled, but Khloe reportedly has cautioned it does not mean that she has plans to resume their marriage.
