Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Back Together? Rumors Continue To Hound ‘The Vampire Diaires’ Stars Despite His Marriage

Although Ian Somerhalder is currently married to Nikki Reed, there have been persistent reports that The Vampire Diaries star might be heading back to the arms of Nina Dobrev. According to Christian Post, Somerhalder and Reed aren’t having a great time together since their recent exchange of vows, which has only led to more speculation that Somerhalder is ready to end his marriage.

News of a possible breakup came after reports that Somerhalder wanted to have children with Reed. The only problem with Somerhalder’s plan is that Reed is not ready to have children. Instead, the actress wants to continue to build her career and has no desire to settle down and become a mom.

At the same time, this is not the first instance that Somerhalder has wanted to have children. During his relationship with Dobrev, Somerhalder also wanted to have kids, which Dobrev was also not ready for. This is one reason why many think the two ultimately decided to end things, though it can’t be said for certain.

To add even more complications to their relationship, Ian Somerhalder is not exactly happy with how Reed’s career is turning out. In fact, during her latest role in Sleepy Hollow, producers went with Reed in order to add a sexy character to the lineup. Apparently, this hasn’t gone over well with Somerhalder, who has expressed his desire for Reed to take on more “motherly” roles.

Meanwhile, with possible trouble brewing between Somerhalder and Reed, Dobrev might be set to make a return to The Vampire Diaries. According to TV Insider, Paul Wesley recently revealed that Elena Gilbert will play an important role in Season 7, leaving open the opportunity for a possible Dobrev cameo.

“Elena’s still a very big part of the story,” he stated in the interview. “Her body’s in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she’s talked about so much!”

To add even more fuel to the rumors of a return, Somerhalder discussed the matter with MTV news, stating, “She’s still there, dude. She’s in a casket; she’s having a nap.”

To which Wesley quickly added, “Characters die and come back.”

Does this mean Dobrev is set for another appearance on the hit show in the new season? Although many fans would like to see this become a possibility, Dobrev recently told Entertainment Weekly that her work on The Vampire Diaries was officially over.

“That chapter is closed, sadly — bittersweet,” she revealed to the outlet. “I can’t wait to see what the new season will look like,” she added. “I’ll be watching. I’m very excited for my friends.”

Clearly, Dobrev is standing firm in wanting to leave her days as the star of The Vampire Diaries behind and forge ahead with her career. With that in mind, Dobrev admitted that she would like to venture into something darker than anything she’s done in the past.

“I want to do something dark and gritty,” she told Who What Wear. “I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the s— out of me.”

While it is not clear whether or not Dobrev and Somerhalder will get a chance to work together again, it has not stopped the rumors circulating about a potential rekindling of relationship between the two stars. At this point everything is pure speculation, as neither party has yet to address these rumors.
