Rapper DMX Arrested Yet Again For Outstanding Child Support
Rapper DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested for failing to pay child support. According to the Wrap, the rapper failed to pay his $10,000 a month in child support. His neglect to pay child support to his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, and four children led up to his arrest.
The rapper was arrested in Westchester, where he currently lives. During a hearing on Tuesday, DMX spoke before the judge. Of his celebrity status, the rapper said, “It’s not like I can hide. All I have is my name and my reputation.” The rapper said that performing live shows is the “only way I can make a living,” which just goes to show how far he has fallen from having his hits top the charts. One of his most popular songs was the catchy tune, “Up In Here.”

Despite trying to reason with the court, he was cuffed and led out of the courtroom. Of course, this isn’t the only time DMX has been arrested. As the Inquisitr reported, back in June, the artist was arrested at Radio City Music Hall on various warrants. At the time, DMX was captured after he had arrived for a show featuring Ma$e, Shabba Ranks, and others.
Back then, he was arrested because he had an outstanding bill of $400,000 in child support that he hadn’t paid. In addition, he had pending warrants due to jumping bail, robbery, and driving without a license. Back in April of 2015, DMX was accused of robbing a fan at gunpoint. The former fan said that DMX and his entourage took $3,200 in cash while at the Newark gas station.
Despite the claims, DMX’s lawyer denied the charges. “[DMX] was leaving a show … and he stopped for gas. Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go … They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense.”

2015 isn’t the only year that DMX has been in legal trouble. He’s been in and out of the system for ten years now. In 2013, DMX was arrested for marijuana and a previous traffic violation. Back in 2008, the rapper plead guilty to counts of animal cruelty, and drug charges that were put on the rapper after police raided his home in Phoenix, Arizona. In April of that same year, he gave a health clinic worker a fake name while he was being treated for an illness. The bill came out to $7,500, but DMX skipped out on the bill. He was arrested July of 2008 for failing to pay the bill.
As for his troubles with child support, other than failing to pay his bills this year, DMX had failed to pay child support in 2013, as well. Due to his financial hardships, he unsuccessfully tried to claim bankruptcy, but that didn’t do the rapper much good. A judge later on went to order $15,000 be taken out of his funds that he’s earned as a recording artist to pay for child support. That said, given his current arrest and prior arrests following that specific order, it’s unknown whether or not these funds are automatically coming out of the rapper’s account, or if he’s just not making that much money as an artist.
Just a day ago, DMX posted videos of him in the studio working on new material. In one of the videos he’s heard saying, “Am I happy? Yes. Do I have everything I want? No. Do I let my happiness overshadow the fact that I don’t have everything I want? Yes.” He captioned the video with the word “Grateful.”
