Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Joseph Randle To Be Suspended By Cowboys, NFL?

Dallas Cowboys rumors indicate that Joseph Randle violated the league’s personal conduct policy. Now the Dallas Cowboys running back could face a suspension from the NFL, which may be carried out very soon. A report from ESPN.com on Thursday, October 29, states that a suspension could stem from a family dispute that took place in Kansas in February.

A police report came from the mother of Randle’s son. She stated that he broke a car window in an argument and threatened her with a gun while their son was nearby. The criminal charges ended up being dropped, but that does not mean the league cannot take action later. Randle had also been arrested for shoplifting at a Texas mall. For that action, he was fined by the Cowboys and placed under probation.

A lot of questions came up when Randle left the Cowboys’ practice facility on Wednesday, October 28, with sources telling ESPN.com that it was due to more than just a change in his role. Now those Dallas Cowboys rumors have evolved into possibly including a suspension coming down from the NFL offices. As the rumors have not been confirmed by the team yet, it is still considered to be up in the air.

Through the first six games of the season, Joseph Randle has 76 carries for 315 yards. It’s an average of 4.1 yards per carry, to go along with 86 additional yards on 10 catches. Randle also has four touchdowns to his credit, but was looking at a possible demotion after being inconsistent in recent weeks. Darren McFadden ran for 152 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries during Week 7, setting him up to take on a larger role. Now McFadden is officially the starting running back, relegating Randle to a backup role at best.

If the Dallas Cowboys rumors turn out to be correct and Randle gets suspended by the NFL, Christine Michael and Rod Smith would move up in the depth chart. Michael was acquired from the Seattle Seahawks during an offseason trade, and then Smith was picked up on October 14 when the Seahawks waived him. Without Randle, McFadden could also see an increase in his number of carries, making him even more valuable in the world of fantasy football.

The Cowboys are in a must-win situation during Week 8, as the team has slipped to 2-4 in the current NFL standings. That has the team in last place within the NFC East, even though they are still only 1.5 games behind the first place New York Giants. The team will host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, November 1, with a lot on the line. A win could get the team right back in the race, but quarterback Tony Romo is still mending.

A new report from NFL.com states that receiver Dez Bryant is nearing his own return to the field. He has been cleared to play, and though he has been limited in practice this week, Bryant is on track to play against the Seahawks. It will be important for Bryant to prove himself during the Thursday and Friday practices, though, otherwise the coaching staff could decide to hold him back another week. With the team in a must-win situation, it is more likely that he will at least play for a limited number of snaps against the Seahawks. The last thing the team needs is its star receiver getting hurt again.

While it hasn’t been revealed whether an announcement about Joseph Randle is coming from the league, the Dallas Cowboys rumors floating around the net state that it could be very close. If Randle does end up getting suspended, expect Darren McFadden to become the permanent starting running back for the team.
