Realistically, Would ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Meredith Really Work With The Woman Who Killed McDreamy?

Generally, Shonda Rhimes is a pretty clever writer. She had promised that after killing Dr. Derek Shepard on Grey’s Anatomy last year, this season would be healing, but it seems she isn’t keeping her promise and instead is opening old wounds by showing flashbacks of McDreamy’s death. It’s also hard to imagine, in the course of one dinner party, doing an about face and letting a woman you know dropped the ball to work in a hospital with your name on the door. Not happening, and if Dr. Cristina Yang was around, she would drop kick Penny out of the building face first.

The Inquisitr reported that in last week’s episode, we got to finally meet Penny after the build-up from Callie. The fact that she never told Callie about her role in Derek’s death is deplorable considering Callie worked at the same hospital with him. Then, she had the nerve to sign up to work at said hospital and not have the good manners to turn around and leave. It seems that Shonda Rhimes had about five minutes of chill and soothing and is now going to add Penny tension to every professional and social situation for the rest of the season.

ABC News is reporting that Shonda Rhimes has now written the scene for the most awkward dinner party ever. It was that car wreck that you shouldn’t look at, but you know you have to.

“Coming up on the November 5, 2015 episode, Season 12, Episode 6, ‘The Me Nobody Knows,’ Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital welcomes its controversial new transfer resident, Penny Blake.”

Design & Trend believes Meredith is continuing to work through some stuff, and that’s why she isn’t fighting back. Executive producer Betsy Beers agrees.

“I think we can all assume that this is going to be a complicated situation. Meredith is dealing with a lot of stuff and she’s relatively newly on her feet, and I think this is bound to be a very interesting and complicated thing to watch, as it goes forward,” she said.

Beers also hints that the drama, as usual on Grey’s Anatomy.

The International Business Times reports that Meredith is also focused on comforting Callie, whose new relationship might just be doomed. Imagine sitting at a table with your new squeeze and someone drops the bomb.

“But instead of enjoying the dinner and making new friends, the episode saw a number of relationships on the rocks when Meredith announced that Penny was the one who let Derek die.”

And then Amelia jumps in and wants answers, and shock kept Callie sitting still. But where to go from here?

“Well first of all you have to get Callie to just figure out what’s happening between her and Penny,” executive producer Debbie Allen told the Hollywood Reporter about the future of Callie-Penny relationship. “At the end of the episode, Callie doesn’t even give her the address to where she is. Callie doesn’t know how to react. Callie feels that maybe Penny should have told her more.”

At the very least, it is now solidified that Penny has terrible judgment. The number of friendships that will continue to be tested as a result of this dinner is up there, and this will be Grey’s Anatomy worst party ever.
