Meri Brown Speaks Out About Kody Brown’s Adoption of Robyn’s Children

Meri Brown actually divorced her husband, Kody Brown, so he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. This was all in hopes that Kody could adopt her three children and make them part of the Brown family. People shared that Meri Brown is now speaking out about the adoption and how happy she is that these children are now a big part of their family. These children are from Robyn’s previous marriage, but Kody has been raising them as his own for a while now. The only way that Kody Brown could adopt them was if he was actually legally married to Robyn because the court doesn’t recognize their spiritual marriage.

Meri explained why they had to do this in the upcoming People magazine issue. A divorce was the only way that Kody could adopt Robyn’s kids.

“We had to do the restructuring so that we would do the adoption. That was something that I decided to do just for the purpose of the kids. And the adoption, it was something that I knew that they wanted to have their legal name Brown. They really wanted to be adopted.”

Meri and Kody Brown had been married for over 20 years, but it wasn’t hard for her to put the children first. Meri is still living with the Brown family as Kody’s wife, and nothing has changed according to the family. It was all her idea, and Meri even started it on her own by meeting up with a lawyer before telling Kody and Robyn her plan. Kody’s third wife, Christine Brown, thought it was amazing and shared her thoughts.

“It was a really sweet offer and, as far as polygamous relationships go, I don’t know of any other family that has done this. Where another wife has given up a legal marriage so he can marry another wife and that way they can adopt the kids. This isn’t something that happens so it was really sweet and generous.”

Robyn Brown knows that things like this don’t normally happen. It was very special for the Brown family to go to the courthouse and be united as a family. This comes after the Brown family actually moved to Las Vegas to get way from legal problems in Utah for living as polygamists. The adoption of the three children was actually final back in June, but it was just revealed to viewers last week on a new episode of Sister Wives. Everyone loved getting to watch the actual court hearing happen on television.

The Brown family was actually afraid that the judge might ask a lot of questions and give them a hard time about being a polygamist family. In reality, the judge didn’t even ask the Browns very many questions and just simply told them that the adoption had gone through. All of the Brown children were there in court for the adoption hearings, and they also enjoyed taking pictures after it was all over. This was obviously one of the happiest days ever for the Brown family.

As Christian Today shared, this is not the only exciting thing going on for the Brown family right now. Robyn Brown is actually expecting her 2nd child with Kody. They have yet to reveal if they are having a boy or a girl, but viewers can’t wait to hear that the baby has arrived. They have one son together named Solomon.
