Zac Efron and Lily Collins Call it Quits
Zac Efron and his most recent girlfriend Lily Collins have broken up, according to reports.
According to Us Weekly, the couple have decided to call it quits after just three months of dating. “They’re no longer together. They were never serious, though; it was just a casual thing and it fizzled,” said one source. “They were never in the same place at the same time.”
“Zac was never very serious about her. He didn’t talk about her to friends,” said another insider.
Sounds like Lily got the short end of this one. The couple were first spotted together in early February, fueling rumors that that the two had entered a relationship. They were only photographed that one time, but were holding hands during their attendance at a friends’ birthday party that night. According to the insiders, that was about where the relationship peaked.
“It’s true that their schedules are crazy right now, which isn’t conducive to a relationship being easy,” said a source.
Prior to dating Collins, the 24-year-old Efron was in a long-term relationship with High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens. The 23-year-old Collins, daughter of Genesis musician Phil Collins, was previously linked to Twilight actor Taylor Lautner. That relationship expired in September 2011.
Collins was most recently seen portraying the character of Snow White in this year’s far less manly Snow White adaptation, Mirror Mirror. Prior to that, she starred in Abduction along then-boyfriend Lautner. She’ll next be seen in 2013’s Writers which is in post-production, and will play the main role in The City of Bones due later that year.
Efron saw his breakthrough with Disney’s enormously popular High School Musical franchise, which he stuck with through two sequels despite a budding film career. He was most recently seen in 2012’s The Lucky One, and is currently in talks to star in the title role of a live-action adaptation of Johnny Quest.
