Derek Jeter Reportedly Engaged To Supermodel Hannah Davis
Derek Jeter reportedly got engaged to his girlfriend of three years, supermodel Hannah Davis, according to New York Daily News.
A year after he retired from baseball, Derek Jeter, 41, finally has plans of tying the knot with the Victoria’s Secret model. A source close to Davis confirmed the news to New York Daily News, saying that Hannah’s family can’t be more thrilled by the prospect of her getting married to the Yankees legend.
“She already has the ring,” the source said. “The family is very happy because they really like him.”
Hannah Davis, 25, appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine in 2013 and 2014 before becoming the cover model for the publication in 2015. The model was mired in controversy at the time on account of the revealing pose she made for the cover. She also graced the cover of GQ Mexico last month.
Derek Jeter’s romance with Hannah Davis has been an open secret since 2012 until Davis was seen cheering for Derek Jeter and the Yankees at Chicago’s Wrigley Field in May of last year. Still, Hannah and Derek remained tight-lipped about their relationship, dodging questions about their affair at every turn. When asked what Derek thought of the aforementioned controversy surrounding the Swimsuit Illustrated cover, Hannah, looking rather annoyed, gave a non-committal response.
“Um, I think everyone was really excited for me. My family and friends, they all flew in and threw me a surprise party, so… it’s nice to celebrate with everyone.”
In June 2014, Davis and Jeter were seen together for the latter’s 40th birthday celebration at Catch Rooftop in Meatpacking District. Those in attendance included teammates and friends such as Jorge Posada and his wife Laura. Derek and Hanna were the last to leave the venue. At around 10:30 pm, they walked hand-in-hand on their way to a nearby nightclub in Brickwood. Derek reportedly partied until 2:30 am before leaving the club with Davis.
“Derek and Hannah were really into each other,” says the source. “She stayed close by his side all night. He seems really into her.”
Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis just about confirmed their romance when they walked the red carpet at the 2015 Met Gala back in May of this year. Clad in a stunning J. Mendel gown, Hannah Davis regaled everyone with her iconic entrance. Jeter wasn’t looking bad himself as he sported a classic Rag & Bone tux.
Davis and Jeter also attended the 2015 ESPYS awards in July of this year.
After 20 seasons as a Major League baseball player, the timing is just about right for Derek Jeter. In an interview with NBC just before his final game in Boston’s Fenway Park on September 28, 2014, Jeter said that starting a family and raising kids was one of the reasons he decided to retire from baseball.
I want to have a family. Who knows when it’s gonna’ be? But I look forward to it.
Before dating Hannah Davis, the eleven-time All-Star shortstop had been linked to a melange of celebrity beauties, many of them widely-publicized and talked about in gossip columns and celebrity magazines. Among those he dated were Mariah Carey, Jessica Biel, Minka Kelly, Jordana Brewster, Adriana Lima, and Miss Universe Laura Dutta. At 41, Derek Jeter is ready to settle down with Hannah Davis.
When Hannah was asked about wedding rumors back in May, she stated that such an important milestone in her life won’t be announced through the media.
It’s more annoying to hear it from friends and family because I am like, ‘don’t you think I would tell you if that was the case, you’re not going to hear it (somewhere else).
