Lamar Odom ‘Won’t Ever Be The Same’ After Lung Damage & Kidney Failure

The road ahead for Lamar Odom will be difficult, full of therapy, and likely several more surgeries. It has now been revealed that the emergency surgeries he had were due from pneumonia complications and breathing difficulties. Khloe Kardashian is still by his side, and has dropped the divorce, but it is under the conditions that Odom never goes back to drugs. It is possible that in the future, his crazy drug use would finally kill him.

The Inquisitr confirmed that scans told doctors that Lamar Odom had at least 12 strokes starting at the time he overdosed. Doctors have also confirmed that Odom had heavy amounts of cocaine in his system. Odom still believes he can make it back to the NBA, but a 35-year-old man in kidney failure with diminished lung capacity can’t possibly make that leap. Fans are cheering for him, but hopefully he can just be happy that he is alive. Emotional outbursts have caused doctors to limit Odom’s visitors to just Khloe Kardashian for now.

Perez Hilton is reporting that after his overdose, Lamar Odom will never be the same. Though Odom has made some progress, he has had setbacks, and will continue to have them.

“It’s two steps forward, then a step back, but it does feel like some progress is being made, little by little. There’s still a black cloud, like, ‘Okay, what’s next?’ “

Just recovering from two lung surgeries has really taken the wind out of Odom.

“The pneumonia was a huge setback, and now there’s worry about permanent scarring of the lungs.”

The average person with pneumonia, asthma, and/or bronchitis can have scarring, but Odom’s overdose has hit his heart and lungs even harder.

“His kidneys are still not functioning correctly, but he’s nowhere near strong enough to even think of a transplant, so he’s on dialysis.”

Rumors are buzzing around that Rob Kardashian is offering Odom a kidney, but the Kardashians obviously don’t understand that matching is far more difficult, It is not just blood typing, it’s tissue typing too, to get a match that won’t be rejected.

Radar Online is stressing that the main concern for Odom’s recovery right now is his kidneys. It seems both kidneys are toast, and so he remains on constant dialysis. Organs like the liver can regenerate, but once you trash your kidneys, they are gone. The fact that Odom isn’t having dialysis treatments, but that he is on dialysis around the clock, is very telling.

“Lamar is suffering from complications because of the kidney failure. The dialysis is messing up Lamar’s ability to think and speak clearly, which is one of the reasons his doctors are unsure about the extent of any permanent brain damage.”

But the kidneys aren’t the only problems concerning his medical staff. At risk right now are his lungs and heart, too. The necessary dialysis treatments have caused his blood pressure to remain dangerously low, and he is still also on IV antibiotics for his lungs.

“Lamar has also had some heart problems as his blood pressure has gotten low during the dialysis.”

There is still no confirmation on the entire toxicology report from the overdose. In the past, Odom has used everything from heroin to cocaine to marijuana. Kardashian is holding firm that no further drug use will be tolerated.
