‘Young And Restless’ Cast News: Lachlan Buchanan Drops To Recurring Status In Kyle Abbott Role
There is a bit of a cast shift playing out on The Young and the Restless, it seems. Though Lachlan Buchanan was brought onto Y&R to tackle the character of Kyle Abbott last winter, little has been happening with him lately. According to the latest news out regarding Buchanan and the show, that may not be changing anytime soon.
According to Daytime Confidential, Lachlan Buchanan has been dropped to a recurring status. That means he is no longer on-contract, but he also will not be leaving the show entirely. At least, that is the plan for now. The news that Buchanan was dropped to recurring comes after some rumors had been floating around that he had been let go from the sudser.
The buzz about Buchanan is just the latest about upcoming changes to the show. There has been a lot of talk that Sean Carrigan will be leaving Y&R in the role of Dr. Ben “Stitch” Rayburn as well, notes Soap Central. Though the show has yet to confirm this one, many would say that there are some signs that this likely is about to happen.

Though Ben and Abby recently split, they suddenly reconciled and he was even planning to propose. However, there is Ashley hovering around with feelings for the doctor, as well.
The Young and the Restless spoilers from She Knows Soaps tease a big fire coming up that will impact many in Genoa City, and there has been speculation that Stitch may die in the fire. However, fans will have to tune in to these upcoming episodes to see if that’s how things play out.
As for the character of Kyle, he was first brought back in this latest round in February, 2015. At first, many suspected that Kyle might have been behind Austin’s death, and things certainly seemed suspicious in those early episodes. However, after a number of twists and turns, it turned out that the timing of Kyle’s return to Genoa City in relation to Austin’s death was just a coincidence.
Though Kyle and Summer have reconnected since Austin’s death, they’ve had little screen time lately. Kyle also was on the brink of becoming more integral to Jack at Jabot, but in both cases, Kyle has been shifted to the backburner lately, and seemingly has little to do. Given that, it likely doesn’t surprise many to hear he has been dropped to a recurring status.
Who else will be leaving Young and Restless this fall and winter? Nobody is sure on that yet, and Y&R spoilers haven’t detailed much more. There has been a lot of concern that Justin Hartley may bail on the character of Adam Newman, as there are hints that primetime offers are coming to him.
The character of Adam is in dire shape right now after a hit and run, but there has also been buzz that Hartley is content with the role and recently reupped his contract. At this point, neither the show or Hartley are sharing specifics about his future with the show.

Despite some status changes and departures, there are new characters coming as well. Mishael Morgan is back as Hilary soon, and former One Life to Live and Another World star Jensen Buchanan will be showing up in Genoa City on November 13 in the character of Elise, notes SoapCentral.
Will Stitch really perish in the fire? Will the show find a way to integrate Kyle Abbott back into the mix of things soon? Fans are anxious to see where this is all headed as the drama continues on The Young and the Restless.
