Amber Rose Embraces SlutWalk And ‘How To Be A Bad B****’
Amber Rose has certainly made a name for herself as a stunning, scantily dressed woman, one who first attracted attention when she was dating Kanye West. Rose has come a long way since garnering fame simply as arm candy for famous rappers. Now, as a mom and author, Amber is proving to be a woman not afraid to speak her mind, while putting her child first and helping to empower other women with her SlutWalk and her new book titled How To Be a Bad B****.
“I’ve worked so hard, and I’m still building. And I don’t want no one’s name associated with me,” Amber plainly stated in a recent GQ story by Carrie Battan,
The GQ piece, which Amber Rose thought was to be a respectful story about her, ended up angering her. The story itself tells of her impressive rise from the streets of Philadelphia, with artistic photos of Amber posing nude. Unfortunately, instead of focusing only on the curvaceous beauty that the story was supposed to be about, the opening paragraph references the beauty as “Kanye’s infamous ex” and “Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama.”
Amber Rose took to her Instagram account to post her anger and disappointment of being referenced as part of others’ lives rather than for her own accomplishments.
“Really @gq??? I’m so much more then Kanye’s Ex or Wiz’s baby’s mama. Damn, why the [expletive] did u guys reach out to me for this article and photoshoot? To dumb me down? I talked about feminism and my SlutWalk…” continuing, “I was so excited to be featured in GQ not realizing I was shooting for a tabloid.”
“Thx for nothing,” Amber concluded.
Amber Rose’s October 3 SlutWalk in Los Angeles was all about empowering all females, including women of color, transgender people, and sex workers. Amber’s SlutWalk is part of worldwide movement. The SlutWalks are aimed to raise awareness and challenge those holding women responsible for being attacked, in addition to bringing awareness to sexual violence and stereotyping through victim blaming and slut shaming. In 2011, Heather Jarvis founded the SlutWalk organization. According to the SlutWalk Toronto website, Heather, a sexual assault survivor, came up with the SlutWalk idea after hearing a Toronto Police force representative make, what she calls, “a slut-shaming and victim-blaming comment,” when discussing safety.
The Amber Rose SlutWalk was rdescribed by the NY Daily News as an event that included hundreds of men and women supporting the movement, walking with Amber in their skimpiest of fashion attire.
Amber posted a message on Instagram on the day of her SlutWalk along with picture of her with some supporters.

As well as a shout against the mistreatment of women, the walk also proved to be a cleansing journey for Amber. The beautiful activist chose her moment to address supporters as an opportunity to forgive Kanye and Wiz in her speech, stating, “I want to let all of the negativity go.”
Amber Rose has had a very busy month. Along with the GQ story, Amber played guest host for Larry King on October 14, speaking with a group about feminism. Perhaps the well-spoken Rose is ready to host her own TV Show. She sent a tweet out, thanking Larry King for allowing her to guest host his show.

On Sunday, October 25, Amber was on Andy Cohen’s Bravo show Watch What Happens Live. Andy tried his best to get Rose to speak about Kanye West and the Kardashians in his game called “Plead the Fifth.” According to the NY Daily News, when Andy attempted to ask Rose to rank the Kardashian clan from the least to most interesting, she refused. The tattooed beauty is staying true to wanting to shed negativity from her life, as she said clearly to Andy, “I’m not talking about Kanye or the Kardashians at all.”
This week, Amber is adding author to her resume with her first book, How To Be a Bad B****, making its debut. The book is described on Amazon as, “An edgy yet accessible ‘bad b****’ guide to life, love, and success from Amber Rose, renowned model, entrepreneur, and pop culture personality.”
Amber Rose’s book aims to help women achieve their goals. Amber has proven that she is more than mere arm candy by staying in her own spotlight, being featured in magazines, fashion, and pop culture in order to be the self-confident star that she has become. The mission of her book, to help women “chase the best vision of you possible,” has proved that her goal in helping empower women is becoming a reality for the woman that she herself wants to be.
