‘RHOC’ Vicki Gunvalson And Brooks Ayers Breakup — He Claims He Was An Easy Target, Still Won’t Prove Cancer

Much has been made of the recent breakup between Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson and Brooks Ayers. While multiple reasons have been offered as to why the couple decided to split, including Ayers lying about having cancer to issues between Ayers and Gunvalson’s family, Ayers has finally spoken out on the matter. In an interview with People, Ayers revealed that he felt some relief after his split with Gunvalson.

“We began seeing, of all things, a reality TV couple’s counselor,” Ayers told the outlet. “We made the decision that we probably weren’t going to be for forever. … It was like the piano was lifted off of my back, if you will.”

At the same time, Ayers recently opened up to E! Online about the different fights he found himself engaged in this season, which include spats with some of the cast members on the show and some of Gunvalson’s family members.

“I don’t fight like those ladies fight. They fight below the belt… I was brought up a little differently, and that’s sad for me on the outside, but what am I supposed to do? Do you fight, cuss with women? I don’t do that. It’s not gonna happen. I’m not gonna bring up that Simon [Barney] hates Tamra [Judge] and that she has issues with her 16-year-old daughter… I’m not gonna bring up Meghan [King Edmonds]’ past relationship issues.”

Along with not bringing up past issues and embarrassing topics, Ayers also stated that he thought he was an “easy target” for the women, and that this was one reason why he was embroiled in so much controversy this season.

As fans are well aware, Ayers has been accused of lying about being diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma by several cast members of the reality show. Despite these allegations, Ayers has yet to offer definitive proof that he actually has cancer.

Meanwhile, with the reunion for Real Housewives of Orange County getting ready to air, host Andy Cohen recently revealed to Bravo that his interview with Ayers will shed even more light on the controversy surrounding Ayers this season.

“I was worried that we weren’t going to get anywhere with the Brooks conversation. But I think we did,” Cohen explained. “It’s interesting to hear his side of everything. There’s nothing that I didn’t address with him, and he has an answer for everything.”

Ayers and Cohen sat down for a one-on-one interview a few weeks back, and although details were kept secret about what was ultimately said in the interview, it has been expected that it will air at some point during the reunion special.

Elsewhere, along with the revelations about Ayers and his relationship with Vicki Gunvalson, Cohen went on to state that more things were set to be exposed throughout the reunion special. With that in mind, what else can fans expect to unfold in the coming weeks?

“I was very happy… The headline is the revelations that came out,” Cohen revealed. “There’s a big revelation from Tamra [Judge]. We hear from a former Housewife… No walk-offs… There were disagreements. There was drama. There was emotion. There was not crazy screaming. It was adult in that way.”

As to whether or not Cohen now believes Ayers truly does have cancer, the longtime host wasn’t ready to dish out his opinions on the matter. “Let’s talk after the reunion and I will tell you my verdict,” he said in response to a question about Ayers’ cancer.
