Ben Affleck Explains Why Batman Has ‘Rage For Superman’ In New Movie

Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill finally explained just what made Batman so angry in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, Variety reported.

The trailers for the movie have shown Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill preparing to battle, but the reason wasn’t clear. Cavill — who plays Superman in the movie — revealed that prior to the fight scenes, his character had destroyed the Wayne Financial Building, upsetting the Batman character Ben Affleck brings to life.

“What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Affleck echoed Cavill’s sentiments. Ben found the role of bringing an vengeful Batman to life intriguing for the movie.

“He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

Also revealed in the interview was that Batman’s suit was made with CGI, not a real suit that Ben wore during filming. Instead, Affleck wore what he called “visual effects pajamas” for the shoot. The effect was needed to provide agility to his motions, the 43-year old actor said.

“You can move freely, and they can put [the suit] on digitally … It’s a little more humiliating to wear, but it’s easier for the digital effects guys. You can see who the priority is.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Deborah Snyder also eased concerns that the CGI action would give the movie and fight scenes with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill a video game effect. “We were able to do some much more with the digital doubles in Batman v Superman than we could do before, and that wasn’t that long ago.”

Ben Affleck is emerging as a candidate for directing the upcoming Batman solo film, Cinema Blend reported. While only the first movie has been confirmed, there is a strong likelihood of Affleck completing a trilogy for Batman, comparable to the series starring Christian Bale.

Already, Affleck has written the script for the first movie along with Geoff Johns. When asked if he would consider directing the solo Batman movie, Ben said he would strongly consider it.

“Look, if I could make it work, yeah, obviously it would be a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea.”

Ben Affleck being named director would put an accomplished director in place for the movie. In addition to his acting, Ben has directed several successful movies, including Oscar winning Argo, The Town, and Gone Baby, Gone.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — due out in March, 2016 — has been subjected to numerous fan theories, as many fans want the newest Batman to coexist in the same universe as Christian Bale’s version. In order for that to work, Ben Affleck would have to play a comic book character named Deathstroke. That seems unlikely, according to a recent Inquisitr article discussing this theory.
