Bindi Irwin And Derek Hough Prepare For ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Halloween Routine, Show Off Costumes
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough are getting into the Halloween spirit ahead of Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars Halloween special. They both showed off spooky Halloween costumes on social media, and Bindi’s been rehearsing with a dance partner from the dark side.
Wildlife lover Bindi Irwin is used to dealing with creepy crawlies, so it shouldn’t be surprising that the Crocodile Hunter’s daughter once dressed up like a spider for Halloween. However, Bindi’s costume wasn’t very scary — she made such an adorable arachnid that Peter Pan wasn’t afraid of posing with her for a fun family photo. Bindi shared the Instagram picture below for a special Halloween edition of Flashback Friday.

Bindi Irwin might prefer cute costumes over creepy ones, but it looks like her Dancing with the Stars partner is all about the scares. According to People, Derek recently dressed up like a petrifying zombie pig man to scare unsuspecting Knott’s Scary Farm visitors. Derek shared an Instagram video of his terrifying transformation and the screaming girls who didn’t want to be anywhere near him while he rocked his mutant mask. However, they were more than happy to cuddle up to the DWTS pro once he revealed his identity.

Apparently Derek’s mask was so terrifying that it scared Bindi Irwin right into the arms of another man — or maybe her new partner is a woman? It’s kind of hard to tell since she’s been rehearsing with a spooky skeleton.

Surprisingly, Derek Hough and Bindi Irwin’s Dancing with the Stars Halloween routine probably won’t include any skeletons, spiders, or pig people. In his TV Guide blog, Derek revealed that he and Bindi Irwin will be performing the Argentine tango to “Cry Little Sister” on Monday night. The song is from The Lost Boys movie soundtrack, so Bindi and Derek might channel motorcycle-riding vampires for their performance.
Perpetually-happy Bindi Irwin is like a living ball of sunshine, so it will definitely be interesting to see if she can get in touch with her dark side. Luckily, her partner has faith in her ability to channel a character that is the complete opposite of who she is in real life.
“With Bindi, we’ve seen the sweet side of her obviously,” Derek wrote. “This is gonna be the fierce, sexy, strong side of her. I’m excited for everyone to see that. She totally gets into character and I think it’s gonna be good.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Bindi Irwin was one of the captains for the Halloween night team dance. She and Derek will be performing a Ghostbusters-themed routine to the popular Ray Parker, Jr. song of the same name from the movie’s soundtrack, and they’ll be joined by the following pairs: Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson; Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas; and Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold.
The other Halloween team captain is Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, and his group gets to perform a The Nightmare Before Christmas-themed routine to “This Is Halloween.” He and pro partner, Sharna Burgess, will be joined by Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy; Andy Grammer and Allison Holker; and Hayes Grier and Emma Slater.
Bindi Irwin is definitely in a good position when it comes to the team routine — Derek has never lost a group competition. She’s also riding high after earning her first perfect score for last week’s Dirty Dancing routine, and everything must seem easier after nailing that iconic lift from the beloved movie. However, Derek revealed that Bindi Irwin suffered a wardrobe malfunction that could have ruined the look of the dance.
“What happened was minutes before we went on — seconds, really — we were practicing in the hallway and her dress kept slipping as I lifted her up,” Derek revealed. “I would get her up, but her skirt would slip down and she’d start sliding. So I ran to wardrobe and asked them to thread her skirt to her underwear so she wouldn’t slip. They were literally threading it while we were heading to the stage. We didn’t get a chance to practice a lift with it threaded. Luckily it all worked out.”
Hopefully Bindi Irwin has a seamstress on standby during next Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars Halloween special — it would be disastrous if she or one of her team members busted out of their Ghostbusters costumes.
