‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Spoiler: Did The Trailer Reveal Death Of Beloved Character?
The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released last night to a rapturous applause from fans and Monday Night Football supporters alike.
But, in the midst the new footage for the hugely anticipated blockbuster, there might have been the revelation of a huge character death. In fact, the Internet is already pretty certain that there was a clear spoiler that alluded to just that in the trailer.
Obviously, there are plenty of you out there that don’t want Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be ruined for you. So, you shouldn’t read ahead if you want to go into the film with a clear mind.
Are they gone? Good. That’s because, following the airing of the third and final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there has been widespread speculation that the one and only Chewbacca will be killed.
Poor Chewie. Obviously, this is all mere speculation at the moment. But Comic Book Movie‘s Steven Satterwhite is adamant that the big walking carpet will face an untimely death at the hands of Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.
Satterwhite took to his Twitter account to post about the potential spoiler, as well as uploading a clearer link to a meme outlining why he thinks Chewbacca dies in The Force Awakens, to PhotoBucket.

But what makes Satterwhite so confident that Chewbacca dies in The Force Awakens?
Well, he is insistent that Daisy Ridley’s Rey is resting on top of Chewbacca’s corpse when she is crying incredibly hard. Of course, the fact that Rey is weeping would lead you to think that something truly terrible has happened. And the death of Chewbacca would certainly fit into that bracket.
His work didn’t stop there, though. Because having removed the blue and decreased the brightness from the image, he then points out that Rey looks as though she is hiding behind something that looks to be incredibly furry.
Obviously, that means that it could be Chewbacca. However, the most damning piece of evidence is that the image also appears to include Chewbacca’s bandolier, aka his shoulder-belt where he holds his cartridges, as well his satchel.
It doesn’t stop there though. Because Satterwhite also points out that the location where Key is wildly weeping looks exactly like the forest where Kylo Ren and John Boyega’s Finn do battle.
This led Satterwhite to predict that during their lightsaber tussle, Kylo Ren kills Chewbacca, which is what provokes Key to try and aid her fallen comrade, before then crying incessantly.
Ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was confirmed, there has been speculation that either Chewbacca or Han Solo would die in the film. Obviously, at this point, we are still none the wiser, but Satterwhite does make a convincing argument that Chewbacca is the one who perishes.
Plus, the Star Wars franchise does have previous with surprisingly killing off integral characters.
In Star Wars: A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, who was by far the most well known actor in the film, died at the hands of Darth Vader. Meanwhile, in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Liam Neeson’s Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn was also killed at the hands Darth Maul.
We now only have less than two months to wait until Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally released into cinemas. Starring John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Domnhall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill, The Force Awakens is the seventh installment to the Star Wars franchise and will hit cinemas on December 18, 2015.
