Drake Reveals His Dating Deal Breaker to W Magazine — And Serena Williams Doesn’t Match Up

Drake has a couple of requirements for the girl he’ll eventually settle down with. The Canadian rapper sat down with W Magazine for a very revealing interview that touched on a wide range of topics, including his dating deal-breakers.

Unfortunately, for the American girls who are Drake fans, they need not apply.

“Most people I know stay in Toronto. I plan to spend the rest of my life there. The talk, the smell, the sound that comes out of that city is home to me,” the “Back to Back” rapper said. “When I think about the girls I want to get romantic with, it’s a girl from Toronto who knows what I’m talking about when we drive around the city.”

So, what does this mean for Serena Williams? Drake and Serena have been seen together in public quite a bit lately. There are even rumors that the two might be getting engaged, Yahoo News reports. But, according to Entertainment Tonight Canada, a rep from the tennis star’s camp has stated that those rumors are completely untrue and that Serena and Drake are simply “longtime friends.”

But, things between Drake and Serena were looking more than friendly in August when the two were spotted making out at Sotto restaurant in Cincinatti. TMZ reported that the rapper and the tennis star were cuddled up and kissing in a private room at the back of the restaurant. Based on the paparazzi photos, Serena was sitting on Drake’s lap and there were six other guests at their table. Drake has also been a fixture at a lot of Serena’s matches, where he shows full support of his “friend.”

Serena and Drake have ignited romance rumors before. As Entertainment Tonight reports last year, rapper Common, Serena Williams‘ ex boyfriend, has admitted that his beef with Drake was because of Serena.

“For me, I think it was an emotional thing,” Common said in an interview with Vlad TV. “Meaning, I was feeling like, at that time, I think it was the Drake-Serena situation — I ain’t know what was going on with that… Unfortunately, the war might have been over a girl, even though at the time I never said that.”

For her March Vogue cover, Serena opened up about her love life claiming that she’s — believe it or not — shy when it comes to dating.

“I am really shy. I don’t talk to guys,” Serena said. “Friends? Yes. But a potential? No. I get nervous that I will say the wrong thing, and then I just start laughing.”

Apart from talking about his dating life, Drake also opened up in the W interview about wanting to get back into acting. As most of his fans already know, Drake got his start in the industry as a regular on Canadian teen soap opera, Degrassi. Drake, then known by his legal name, Aubrey Graham, played the part of Jimmy Brooks, a basketball star who ends up in a wheelchair after he’s shot by a fellow student. According to Wikipedia, Drake appeared on over 100 Degrassi episodes.

“I can’t wait to get back into acting,” he told W Mag. “No one ever asks me to do movies, and, although music is my focal point now, I’d love to do a film. That was the life that I lived before, and it would be interesting to live it again.”

Drake got a chance to flex his acting chops when he hosted Saturday Night Live and The Espy Awards in 2014. He got some great reviews for both gigs and perhaps we will see his face on a film screen sometime soon.

But, as of right now, rapping is keeping Drake busy and was actually what cut his acting career short in the first place, at least on Degrassi.

Drake says in the interview that he was kicked off of Degrassi because he was so focused on rapping.

“Back then, I’d spend a full day on set and then go to the studio to make music until 4 or 5 a.m. I’d sleep in my dressing room and then be in front of the cameras again by 9 a.m. Eventually, they realized I was juggling two professions and told me I had to choose,” he said. “I chose this life.”

Right now it looks like Drake is focused on completing his his highly-anticipated sixth album, Views from the 6. Drake has hinted that the album is coming soon but has yet to confirm an actual release date. According to this Inquisitr article, fans have speculated about the Drake album release date and each time the date has passed without Views From the 6 hitting stores. Drake has also said that a video for his hit song from his last “retail mixtape,” “Hotline Bling” will be coming soon. But, fans are still waiting.

Views from the 6 may be delayed because of Drake’s desire to top his previous work.

“I’m always thinking, How do I top what I’ve done? How do I make this thing stronger?” Drake said in the W magazine interview. “I ask myself, ‘Why does Adele’s album go diamond, and how do I do that? How do I create art that makes minds stretch further?'”
