Andy Cohen worked his magic yet again in the most recent episode of Watch What Happens Live when he managed to get Vicki Gunvalson to open up about her relationship with former boyfriend Brooks Ayers. According to She Knows , the interview featured Gunvalson discussing the many reasons why she ended her relationship with Ayers, and it didn’t have anything to do with the allegations that he is faking cancer.
In fact, during the candid interview, the Real Housewives of Orange County star revealed that her relationship with Ayers was never meant to last in the long term. As explained by Gunvalson, this is partly due to the stress of being on the show and the ill feelings Ayers shared with her daughter, Briana.
“There [were] a lot of things,” she stated after being asked why she split up with Ayers. “I just think that the conflict with Briana, and him and I, and him being from the South — he really wanted to go back to the South — and I just think the stress of the show, and he’s sick. And at the end of the day, it just didn’t work anymore.”
However, Gunvalson did not discount the time she shared with Ayers and added that it was great while it lasted.
“Long-term, we were not gonna work. Short-term, it was amazing,” she stated.
At the same time, although Gunvalson was willing to open up with Cohen and generally had nice things to say about Ayers, she wasn’t happy when her former boyfriend also sat down for an interview. The things said between Cohen and Ayers have not yet aired, but apparently Gunvalson was not thrilled about their secret meeting.
“Vicki was completely blindsided by Brooks’ decision to do the interview with Andy. Complicating matters, Brooks isn’t telling Vicki anything about the interview,” an inside source told the outlet. “She has no idea what was said, or if he threw her under the bus!”
With the interview yet to be aired, many expect it to be revealed during the upcoming reunion special.
Meanwhile, Vicki Gunvalson has certainly been through a lot during this season of the reality show. Along with her break up with Ayers, fans watched as Gunvalson grieved after facing down the loss of her mother.
In regards to these tragedies, Gunvalson told Cohen that the other ladies on the show did not offer her any support during her times of need.
“No,” she said emphatically after being asked about her friends on the show. “They still have their mother and they still have their partner. So, I’ve had two huge losses this year, and they’re not there for me.”
Aside from her dealing with her breakup and the death of her mother, Gunvalson has been at the brunt end of the allegations that Ayers has been faking his cancer. Despite these mounting accusations, Gunvalson has remained supportive of Ayers and has defended him all the way up to the recent Season 12 finale.
With so much happening in Gunvalson’s life, from dealing with the death in her family to sticking up for her former boyfriend over her fellow cast members, it will be interesting to see what she has to say during the upcoming reunion specials. Hopefully, there will be some more light shed on Ayers and his cancer diagnosis, along with more details on why he and Gunvalson decided to call it quits.
The reunion specials for The Real Housewives of Orange County are set to begin October 19 on Bravo. At the same time, fans can tune into Watch What Happens Live when it airs Sunday through Thursday nights on Bravo.
