Next Week’s Free ‘GTA V’ DLC Adds New Online-Only Missions, Enhanced Vehicle Customization
Just weeks after the release of the last content update for Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games has already announced the next DLC that will be available soon within the latest entry of their widely popular crime series.
Coming only to current-gen platforms, the Rockstar Newswire confirmed that the newest downloadable content for GTA V will expand upon the game’s online multiplayer mode. Like all add-ons released thus far, the developer is adding additional features specifically to GTA Online through a free title update.
As with all new GTA V content from this point on, the Lowriders Update will only be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Unfortunately, those still playing on last-gen consoles won’t be receiving the free DLC due to hardware issues. Simply stated, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto V have reached the memory limitations of the older platforms.
The upcoming update will add a new vehicle modification shop to GTA Online that specializes in transforming cars into fully decked-out lowriders. These new customization options give users the ability to personalize six different vehicles with several new interior choices for upholstery, dashboard dials, and shift levers.
Additionally, as the name suggests, players will also be able to finally own true lowriders in GTA V since the new vehicle shop can add full hydraulics. Those looking to cruise around Los Santos can also upgrade the cars with a new stereo system.
“With next week’s release of GTA Online: Lowriders for PS4, Xbox One and PC – lovers of cars and customization all across Los Santos and Blaine County will have a suite of brand new options and a new place to go get them. Introducing Benny’s Original Motor Works, a new customs shop in downtown Strawberry that offers a huge range of lowrider customizations that can turn your classic junker into a high-spec, tricked-out king of the streets.”
For gamers that aren’t into lowriders, the next GTA V DLC will also include a few other features that aren’t tied to the new vehicles customization options. Actually adding some new activities, the new update includes several new co-op missions to Grand Theft Auto Online. Adding to the existing contacts, players can get the new missions from Lamar.
Fans of GTA V will remember Lamar as Franklin’s friend from the game’s single player campaign. Lamar was also the first character players ran into after connecting to GTA Online for the first time. According to Rockstar Games, it sounds like gamers might need to bring friends along should they decide to try out any of Lamar’s new missions which further strengthens trend which has seen the Grand Theft Auto series become increasingly multiplayer-focused.
“And keep an eye out for calls and texts from Lamar – he’s making moves of his own through a series of new missions and he’s going to need your help. You’ll want to hit up your trusted allies, wheelmen, and sharpshooters for backup too, as things are going to get hectic.”
Like every previous content update for GTA V, next week’s free DLC will also add plenty of new gear to the game. For those hoping to expand their arsenal, the add-on gives players the chance to wield either a machete or a fully automatic machine pistol. Meanwhile, users looking for style can further customize their GTA Online characters with new clothing and hair style choices. Lastly, the DLC will also allow players to purchase a fourth property which should help them store their new lowriders if their garages are already currently full.
After first announcing the DLC today, Rockstar Games won’t make fans wait long before releasing the new content. The developer confirmed on Twitter that the GTA Online‘s Lowriders Update is set to launch next Thursday.
