Liam Hemsworth Spent $100K On Miley Cyrus’ Engagement Ring, What A Cheapskate
Liam Hemsworth proposed to Miley Cyrus over the weekend with a 3.5 carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring that reportedly cost about $100,000.
Jeweler Zaven Ghanimian, of Simon G., told Celebuzz:
“If you were to purchase the ring at retail, it is probably in the vicinity of $80 thousand and could range all the way to $100 thousand, depending on the quality of the center stone and the certificate.”
Celebrity jeweler Neil Lane sold the ring to the actor. Lane didn’t comment on the ring’s price but did say:
“He wanted something really romantic and beautiful. Hopefully it’s something different. It’s all handmade with a 19th century cushion-cut diamond.”
Surprisingly, Hemsworth’s $100,000 ring is actually pretty tame by A-list celebrity standards.
Angelina Jolie, who recently announced her engagement to Brad Pitt, received a ring estimated to be worth about $1 million. And guess what, Brad Pitt is a cheapskate, too.
Celebuzz reports that Jay Z set the bar for an engagement rings when he gave Beyonce Knowles an 18-carat diamond ring worth over $5 million.
Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Katie Holmes, and Catherine Zeta-Jones all received rings worth 6 figures.
Liam Hemsworth doesn’t have a a net worth comparable to guys like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt. yet, but he’s on his way. Hemsworth just starred in one of the Summer’s hottest movies, “The Hunger Games,” and with a few sequels in the works he’ll start climbing the Hollywood ranks.
Of course, Liam Hemsworth’s engagement to Miley Cyrus isn’t exactly about the money.
Billy Ray Cyrus said that he approved of Liam and of the engagement, despite the fact that his daughter is only 19. Cyrus said:
“All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness…peace of mind …and someday know… true love.”
Cyrus’ mother Tish wrote:
“Wow! All of the LOVE pouring out for Miley and Liam is incredible! So happy for my precious baby girl and the love of her life!”
