Vicki Gunvalson recently opened up about this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County during the most recent Watch What Happens Live show with host Andy Cohen. Along with answering questions about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers, the reality star also discussed the cancer controversy and Tamra Judge’s role in the ordeal, according to MSN .
In regards to her co-stars on the show, Gunvalson started off by revealing that none of them have been there for her this season, despite the multiple losses she has suffered.
“They still have their mother, they still have their partner. I’ve had two huge losses this year, and they’re not there for me,” she stated.
With things clearly starting to fall apart for Gunvalson, she added that she doesn’t view the other women on the show as her true friends.
“That makes me realize that we’re just TV friends,” she explained.
Speaking of TV friends, Gunvalson also dished on how Judge was the one who started the debate about Ayers cancer and whether or not he was lying about it all.
“Yes it did start from Tamra,” she revealed in the interview. “I don’t know why or how she got Scott the psychic involved in this but it started there and it just perpetuated into a whole season of ‘Does he have cancer?’”
Gunvalson went on to state that the allegations against Ayers were particularly disturbing, especially after some of the cast members demanded evidence from Ayers that proves he isn’t lying about having cancer.
“I think the whole thing is pretty disgusting,” Gunvalson said. “You don’t ask for medical records from somebody, that’s private information.”
As fans are well aware, the topic of Ayers cancer has been a major point this season. With several cast members, including Meghan King Edmonds and Judge, accusing Ayers of lying about his cancer, Gunvalson has been adamant in her support of Ayers. In fact, she has yet to waiver on the subject and seems convinced that he isn’t lying.
However, despite standing strong in her support, Gunvalson and Ayers recently announced that they were no longer together. Although there has been a lot of speculation as to why the long-time couple decided to call it quits, Vicki Gunvalson told Cohen that there were actually a lot of different reasons why it just didn’t work out between her and Ayers.
“There were a lot of things,” she stated. “Him being from the South, he really wanted to go back to the South. I just think the stress of the show and he’s sick, so at the end of the day, it just didn’t work anymore.”
Although Gunvalson and Ayers have been together for some four years, Ayers didn’t exactly get along that well with Gunvalson’s daughter, Briana. Adding in all the controversy over his diagnosis of cancer, and it was clear that everything was beginning to weigh on their relationship.
While Gunvalson’s comments allude to the idea that the controversy on the show was one reason why they broke up, it is not clear just how much this played a part in their decision. With Gunvalson clearly having issues with her co-stars on the reality show, the controversy with Ayers’ cancer certainly had something to do with their breakup.
That being said, Gunvalson did admit that her relationship with Ayers was great while it lasted.
“Long-term it wasn’t going to work,” Gunvalson added. “Short-term it was amazing.”
Meanwhile, with Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County winding down, there will hopefully be some clarity on the matter during the show’s upcoming three-part reunion specials.
