New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Release Date Revealed, Could Air This Week
It’s been alleged that a brand new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere at some point over the next seven days.
In the past it has been rumored that the next trailer for the hugely-anticipated seventh installment of the beloved franchise will be released in the midst of the first episode of the second season of Star Wars: Rebels.
However, Star Wars 7 News doesn’t believe that the trailer will actually be shown during the commercials for the brand new episode of Star Wars: Rebels. Instead, the blog, which is run by Star Wars fanatics, has insisted that it will be released when the day tickets for The Force Awakens become available for pre-order.
If this rumor is true, then this means that the trailer will be airing next Monday, October 19, 2015.
However, if Disney and Lucasfilm actually decide to air the trailer during the Rebels season 2 premiere, then it will air on October 14. They actually might just decide to air a teaser for the full-blown trailer with Rebels season 2 instead.
After Star Wars 7 News predicted the release of the trailer, another movie website, Schmoes Know, confirmed through Twitter that their own sources had provided them with the same information.
We’re hearing Disney will drop the #StarWarsTheForceAwakens trailer officially on Monday the 19th with an announcement on Sunday the 18th!

This will actually be the first full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Sure, we’ve already had two quick peeks of the film, with teaser trailers introducing us to all of the new leading characters of the franchise, while at the same time as giving us a quick peek at Chewbacca and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. But, we’re still yet to get a real glimpse of The Force Awakens‘ tone or story.
Earlier this summer at the San Diego Comic Con, J.J. Abrams confirmed that the first full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be released during the fall. Of course, this leaves quite a wide berth for when the sci-fi blockbuster’s trailer might actually air, since that covers the months between September and December.
But, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ release date of December 18, 2015, growing ever nearer, around about now would probably be the perfect time to amp up anticipation for the film, just ahead of the huge marketing push that’s going to greet it.
Previous rumors had suggested that the powers that be over at Disney and Lucasfilm were actually considering not releasing the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens until November.
This speculation emerged after it was confirmed that the trailer for The Force Awakens wouldn’t be released on October 2, which was when The Martian hit cinemas.
And while this trailer is being labeled as the “first” full trailer for the film, it will also be the last trailer for The Force Awakens, with the press reporting that J.J Abrams, Disney, and Lucasfilm will probably just release a few more TV spots before it hits cinemas.
During a recent discussion with Vanity Fair, via IndieWire, director J.J. Abrams opened up about how Disney have given him the final cut for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while also revealing that he’s enjoyed nothing but a spectacular working relationship with those at the studio.
“I cannot say enough about how Bob Iger and Alan Horn have understood this thing that is now part of the Disney company,” Abrams declared. “And they’re not trying to Disney-fy it, they’re not doing anything other than, I think, an incredibly smart thing, which is letting Kathleen Kennedy — who is a remarkable person and producer — run and lead Lucasfilm to a place where I think it wants to go.”
We’ll learn if Abrams, Kennedy, Horn, and Iger have got the Star Wars franchise off to a sterling start when Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally released on December 18, 2015.
