Dallas Cowboys Rumors: These Three Free Agent Running Backs And One Wide Receiver Could Be Options For Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with so many injuries that it’s almost at the level of desperation by this point. Their star wide receiver Dez Bryant broke a bone in his foot, starting quarterback Tony Romo has a broken left clavicle, tight end Jason Witten had to sit out a game due to various injuries, and running back Lance Dunbar is out for the year with a torn ACL, MCL. Rumor has it the Cowboys are now looking at free agents Ray Rice, Montee Ball, Trent Richardson, and Terrelle Pryor.
It was already known that the Cowboys were going to do a running back by committee this season since no one jumped up to the front in training camp or preseason. Now, Lance Dunbar is out for the season as NFL.com reported, and Joseph Randle just can’t stay out of the doghouse with the coaches.
Thanks everyone for your prayers and wishes. It means alot to me. God has a plan. God got me!! I will bounce back better then ever.

Now, those preseason rumors of looking for free agent running back help are starting to see the light once again.
Running back Ray Rice remains unsigned ever since being reinstated by the NFL, and he really hasn’t gotten a lot of attention either. Sports World Report is stating that there is interest in him again from the Cowboys, along with Montee Ball, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Trent Richardson.
Trent Richardson recently worked out for the Buffalo Bills, but the team chose not to sign him. It doesn’t appear Richardson will ever end up being signed again unless a team is truly in dire need of a running back.
Montee Ball is still a very viable option at running back for a number of teams. He did have a workout for the New England Patriots, but was never signed. Interest was also shown by the Atlanta Falcons, but nothing happened there either.
With the loss of Dunbar and lack of production from Joseph Randle and especially Darren McFadden, the Cowboys may really start looking at some of the free agents out there. Christine Michael, who was acquired in a trade over a month ago, has been elevated to the active roster, but is he enough?
With Dez Bryant still out, rumor has it that he could be back as soon as Week 6 against the New York Giants. Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones says there have been “no setbacks,” but that still seems quite soon.
If Bryant will be out longer than a couple more weeks, the Cowboys may start looking at free agent wide receivers as well. A number are still out there such as Wes Welker, Hakeem Nicks, and Terrelle Pryor.
Pryor seems the least likely to get a call from the Cowboys, but anything is possible. It’s Hakeem Nicks who is getting looks from Dallas most of all, but the New York Giants are looking at him too. The Giants actually brought Nicks in for a workout after Victor Cruz aggravated an injury.
The injuries to the Cowboys are making them look outside of the organization right now, and a third loss in a row could make them really desperate. One good thing is that the veteran free agent pool is quite big and vast at this time, so there are plenty of options.
This year was looking like a promising season for the Dallas Cowboys, but it’s now turned into one of great dread. Before too longer, desperation will really set in and things could get even worse. Ray Rice, Montee Ball, Hakeem Nicks, Terrelle Pryor, and Trent Richardson are all sitting out there waiting for a job, and the Cowboys may soon give one or two of them a call.
