Chris Brown fans may be eagerly awaiting the arrival of the R&B singer’s new studio album, Royalty , but that doesn’t mean Brown hasn’t been working on a few collaborations in the meantime.
After the success of his collaborative hit “All Eyes On You,” alongside Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill, Brown announced to fans on October 5 that he has teamed up with Rick Ross to record his most “honest” track to date.
Chris Brown took to Instagram on Monday to tease the new track, “Sorry,” before thanking Rick Ross for allowing him to “speak from the heart” and be featured on the record.

Not long after Brown’s post hit the site, fans took to the comments section of Chris’ photo to speculate whether or not Brown was apologizing to either Rihanna or Karrueche Tran.
In “Sorry,” Brown sings about a girl that’s “perfect in every kinda way” before admitting that he “took advantage” of someone in his past.
“Sorry, don’t turn back the clock / Baby I took advantage cause I knew you / Wouldn’t believe it, so I used you / I’m sorry, oh I’m sorry don’t make it right, I know.”
In the third verse of “Sorry,” Brown admits that he is trying to change but continues to fall back into familiar mistakes.
“But I know that I can’t change for you / All this time I blamed you cause I know what I’m doing / Stabbing on your heart again, relationship ruined / I feel like s***, know I ain’t s***, but I’m / Sorry.”
Earlier in the track, Brown references “broken condoms, lipstick marks and unprotected sex,” leading some fans to believe that Chris Brown is singing about Karrueche Tran, seeing as he fathered now 1-year-old daughter Royalty with another woman while he and Tran were taking a break from their longtime romance.
While Brown has yet to comment on who served as inspiration for the honest track, some fans believe that Chris Brown may be apologizing to his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Rihanna for his domestic assault on her in 2009.
Last month, Brown made headlines after TMZ reported that Brown may be facing several obstacles in his upcoming tour while several countries continue to deny Chris Brown entry into their country due to his history of domestic violence.
Australian immigration officials issued a statement regarding their reluctance to allow Brown to obtain his visa to enter the country because he is “not of the character” that they expect of people in their country.
While it’s no surprise that Brown and Rihanna continue to be tied together in the media, Rihanna recently opened up in a candid interview with Vanity Fair about her thoughts regarding her former relationship with Chris Brown.
In the interview , via Gossip Cop , Rihanna admits that Brown remains her last official boyfriend after they parted ways in 2013.
Rihanna goes on to dispel rumors that suggest she’s hooked up with several different celebrities, insisting that she isn’t interested in having “casual sex” because it would leave her “feeling like s**t.”
Speaking on her former romance with Chris Brown, Rihanna admits that she thought she could “100 percent” change Brown and his behavior, further aligning with some of the lyrics in Brown’s track “Sorry.”
“You want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say I’m willing to put up with something, they think less of you,” Rihanna explains.
As for how she and Brown currently stand as friends, Rihanna admits, “I don’t hate him. I will care about him until the day I die,” but admits that they are “not friends” and that they don’t “have much of a relationship now.”
What do you think of Chris Brown’s new track “Sorry”? Do you think he’s singing about his former relationship with Karrueche Tran or Rihanna?
