Selena Gomez Surprises Fans With New Single Days Before Album Release
Selena Gomez only needs the rhythm, at least according to the latest song the pop star released this week.
Entitled “Me & The Rhythm,” Gomez released her next single on Friday, a sultry tune from her upcoming album, Revival, Entertainment Tonightreported.
Selena tweeted about her upcoming song, adding that pre-ordering her next album gave fans immediate access to “Me & The Rhythm.”

E! Online reviewed “Me & The Rhythm” in an article about the song’s release. The web site called the song a catchy tune with pulsing beats, DJ-ready for the dance floor. Selena provides a powerful vocal performance that falls in perfectly with the up-tempo tune.
Revival has been a coming of age project for Gomez. Selena used the experiences she’s accumulated over the last two years to produce the songs and overall feel associated with the album. While she hasn’t always been portrayed by the media as doing the right thing, she has learned from her mistakes, Gomez said during an interview for Flare magazine.
“I’m young: I’ve lived my life in the public eye, and I’ve had to figure out how to do that. Ultimately, I am 23 and figuring out my life. I feel confident, I feel empowered, I feel in control.”

Included in that Revival theme was the cover artwork for the new compilation. Gomez posed topless for the CD cover art, combating the fat-shamers Selena heard from back in April after gaining weight. The “Me & The Rhythm” singer told Hollywood Life that she posed topless because she wants to empower other females.
“I’m very comfortable in my skin. I’m so proud of everything that I’ve done. And I’m a lot kinder to myself than I used to be. So if anything I just want that to translate. You know, my music is confident. My album artwork is so well done and I just think its beautiful … I love being able to kind of have my own ways of doing things.”
Gomez isn’t the only recording artist to pose topless as of late. Selena is joined by Demi Lovato, who this past week decided to do a photo shoot for Vanity Fair in the nude to show her newfound confidence, the Inquisitr reported.
Due out October 9, 2015, the album is only the second studio recording by Selena. In addition to “Me & The Rhythm,” Gomez has released two other singles from the forthcoming compilation, including “Good For You” featuring ASAP Rocky and “Same Old Love.”
In addition to her new album, Selena also will do a tour in 2016, the former star of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place told her fans through her Instagram account Thursday. Gomez posted a video to make the announcement, telling fans she will be going to the United States and Canada during the spring next year.

Music isn’t the only thing on deck for Selena. Gomez recently voiced a part in Hotel Transylvania 2, an animated movie that’s been extremely successful since its September release. Selena also has another movie due out later this year, called The Big Short, a film Gomez worked on with Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Christian Bale, and Ryan Gosling.
Selena will also be on the big screen in 2016 with three other movies in the works. In addition to a sequel for The Neighbors, Gomez will be seen in In Dubious Battle with James Franco and Bryan Cranston and The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving with Paul Rudd.
