There have been plenty of rumors associated with the next movie in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, Fifty Shades Darker . From delays in production to news on casting and plot lines, there has not been a shortage of speculation concerning the erotic BDSM drama. With that in mind, one of the biggest questions about the film is whether or not Jamie Dornan will be going full frontal when the film hits theaters in 2017.
Although Fifty Shades of Grey was a huge success at the box office, many fans were left disappointed at the level of sex that was included in the film. This is especially true considering the movie was based on the highly erotic books of the same name by E.L. James. With Dornan set to reprise his role as the ultra-rich Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Darker , some have speculated that filmmakers will be ramping things up in the sex department for Fifty Shades Darker in order to please the fan base.
With that in mind, Dornan was apparently offered quite a large bonus to shed all his clothes in the movie. According to News Every Day , Dornan was offered around $1.5 million to appear fully nude in Fifty Shades Darker . Additionally, there was also some rumors that a stunt double had been offered to perform the full frontal scene, which seems to indicate that producers are set on featuring more nudity. Either way, it still is unclear if Dornan was offered a large sum to go fully nude and even less clear if he agreed to accept the offer.
Meanwhile, the rumors about Dornan’s nude scene were given more life after comments were released by the costume designer for the movie, Mark Bridges. In a chat released by Realty Today , Bridges hinted at the possibility of producers wanting Dornan to show a little more skin this time around.
“I don’t need it all spelled out for me, things left to the imagination are better,” Bridges stated in the interview. “But the people who are involved in the later films must know something I don’t know.”
To add to veracity of the reports, the new movie is set to be directed by someone new following the departure of Sam Taylor-Johnson. James Foley, known for his work on Netflix’s House of Cards , will be directing the film and may be more inclined to include some more explicit scenes between Dornan and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele).
That being said, even if Dornan did take the money to do a full frontal scene and Foley agreed to include it, such a scene would probably not be included in the theatrical version of the movie. This is mainly because a full frontal scene is not likely to get by the censorship authorities, though some kind of nudity in the movie is not out of the realm of possibility.
Meanwhile, although the film has secured a new director and signed on both Dornan and Johnson to reprise their roles, there is still plenty of work to accomplish before production begins. In fact, multiple characters have yet to be cast, including the pivotal parts of Jack Hyde, Eleanor Lincoln (aka Mrs. Robinson), and Leila Williams. With production expected to start up in the coming months, producers have a lot of details to iron out if they want on to stay of track for the film’s release date.
The Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Fifty Shades Darker is expected to hit theaters everywhere on February 10, 2017, and will be followed one year later by the third film, Fifty Shades Freed . Only time will tell if Dornan will appear in either movie fully nude.
