Demi Lovato Slams Reports About Her Friendship With Selena Gomez

Demi Lovato doesn’t want her fans to “feed into the bulls**t” when it comes to the rumors about her friendships. The singer took to social media shortly after her controversial Complex magazine interview came to light on Monday, Sept. 28.

Fans assumed that the BFFs known as “Delena” were no longer friends. It all started with Demi Lovato’s interview with Complex magazine. The “Cool For the Summer” singer claimed that she hasn’t spoken to her compadre Selena Gomez in like forever! Lovato then added that the two have drifted apart over the years, but not because of the “Good For You” singer’s up and down relationship with Justin Bieber.

The interview went down like this. The interviewer asked Demi Lovato if she still talks to Selena Gomez. She answered with a resounding “Nope.” Demi then added that the two have drifted apart and she has no hard feelings about Selena’s ex-boyfriend.

“He’s actually a nice guy. I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up. He looks like he’s maturing. But, you know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change. You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life.”

Fans were obviously confused by Demi’s interview since the former Disney stars shared an adorable selfie together on Instagram. Some assumed that Demi and Sel had another falling out, which is not the case. It was obvious that Demi’s interview took place months before the two singers rekindled their friendship. Demi took to Twitter to address any rumors that claimed that she had bad blood with Selena. She tweeted, “Interviews are done months and months before the issue is published. I lot [sic] can change between then and now. Don’t read into the bulls**t.”

It’s obvious that the two singers are trying to make things right with their troubled friendship. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were seen exchanging cute messages on Twitter around late August. It was also revealed that they started following each other on Twitter and Instagram. Gomez gave a shout out to the “Confident” singer on her birthday. Then it was on Sept. 10 when Lovato and Gomez shared their cute selfie together on Instagram and Twitter.

Demi Lovato captioned the sweet pic, “Look how #CoolForTheSummer we are…Friends for years, #SameOldLove.” The caption also included the twin emojis and hearts.

The “Same Old Love” singer has also spoken out to Entertainment Tonight (via Hollywood Life) about rekindling her friendship with Demi.

“We went to a dinner, I think it was two weeks ago. We were at the dinner, we were talking about her record, my record, just kind of catching up.”

During the alleged interview, Selena also revealed that she considers Demi as a member of her family.

“I love her. She’s like family at this point. It’s just nice to be able to see people that you grew up with succeed.”

Fans assumed that Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were on the outs when the “Neon Lights” singer was in and out of rehab, and Gomez became best friends with Taylor Swift. That’s when Lovato’s infamous “Ask Taylor” video went viral on the internet, long before there was such a thing as social media. It’s been assumed by fans that Lovato and Swift don’t like each other very much. Lovato also kind of dissed Swift in her Complex interview, saying that she prefers to not have famous friends that she can show off on Instagram. Neither singers have directly addressed the reason behind Lovato’s “Ask Taylor” response.
