Boost Mobile To Offer Prepaid iPhones Starting In September

Sources close to Boost Mobile are claiming that the prepaid wireless company owned by Sprint Wireless will begin offering prepaid iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S models starting in early September 2012.

At this time it is unclear if Boost Mobile will offer its unlimited voice, text and data plan for $50 as it does with other smartphone devices while rumors are circulating that a reduction in the monthly bill could occur in increments of $5 to take the total cost down to just $35 per month.

Sources close to the move have also failed to give price points for the iPhone devices however they will likely fall in line with Cricket Wireless’ own prepaid pricing which was release this week. Cricket Wireless will offer the iPhone 4S for $500 and the iPhone 4 at a cost of $400.

If the iPhone prepaid system works prepaid carrier Virgin Mobile USA which is also controlled by Sprint Wireless could follow suit alongside Boost and Cricket.

In the meantime Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5 in October which could leave Boost Mobile and other prepaid carriers with devices that are out of favor for many users. On the other hand prepaid carriers may be able to pick up overstock of each device and offer them at discounted rates.

It is still unclear if Boost will offer new versions of Apple’s devices as they reach market or if they will focus on the end of each smartphones life cycle in order to purchase and sell the devices at a cheaper price to customers.
