‘Murder In Mexico’: The Bruce Beresford, Monica Beresford-Redman Movie, True Story Comes To Lifetime Television Tonight

Murder In Mexico: The Bruce Beresford-Redman Story is set to air on the Lifetime Network tonight. The Lifetime movie is based on the true story of Monica Beresford-Redman, a wife and mother who was strangled to death in Mexico. Her husband, Survivor producer Bruce Beresford, was finally arrested for her murder. As of today, he is in a Mexican prison.

Murder In Mexico: The Bruce Beresford-Redman Story was directed by Mark Gantt and written by Ron McGee. It stars Colin Egglesfield, Leonor Varela, and Brianne Davis, according to Internet Movie Database (IMDb).

The murder made international headlines in 2010 after the former Survivor producer’s wife, Monica Beresford-Redmond, was found dead at a resort in Cancun. The couple had traveled to Mexico for an exotic vacation. According to court records, Mexican police were dispatched to the scene after it was reported that a dead woman’s body was found in the sewer at Cancun’s Moon Palace, a golf and hotel resort in the city of Cancun. Immediately following the discovery of the woman’s body, law enforcement was unable to find her husband, who seemed to be on the run. When he was finally located, Mexican authorities detained him until he was later released and returned to the United States. Beresford fought to get his children back but was later charged with his wife’s murder and extradited back to Mexico. It is alleged that Beresford killed his wife in order to be with his new lover. It is also alleged that that the insurance money and the children were also a motive.

The case was chronicled on an episode of CBS’ 48 Hours, where Beresford spoke freely, stating that he had nothing to do with the murder of his wife. In a sort of video diary, Bruce Beresford took the cameras behind the scenes of the prison in Mexico to tell his side of the story and to show the conditions under which he was living. The sister of the victim, along with several Mexican citizens, protested on the streets of Mexico as they demanded justice for Monica’s murder, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Cancun’s Moon Palace is a hot tourist spot for Americans. The reviews of the hotel are mixed, with some stating that the staff is unfriendly towards American tourists and that the place smelled of sewage on particular days.
