Hugh Jackman Thinks Tom Hardy Should Replace Him As Wolverine
It is well known that Hugh Jackman will make one more film featuring the claws and swooped-up hair of Wolverine. He’s been portraying the character for almost two decades and he knows it’s time to move on, but Wolverine on film won’t just go away. With that, Jackman actually believes he knows the perfect guy to replace him as Logan and it’s Tom Hardy.
According to ComicBook.com, Jackman has finally said what a lot of fans have been thinking for a long time: Tom Hardy could easily step into the role of Logan/Wolverine.
Jackman joked around about it and even said, “I don’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me,” but he is bowing out. If it would be an easy replacement, then the Wolverine transition may not take nearly as long.
It’s never been something that Jackman has thought about much, being replaced as Wolverine, that is. Still, he could truly see Tom Hardy stepping in and donning the claws and leather jacket for future Wolverine movies.
It wouldn’t be the first time Hardy would be in a comic book movie; he starred as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. He was attached to star in Suicide Squad at one point before having to bow out, and he was also rumored to play Apocalypse at one point and also Doctor Strange.
We Got This Covered stated, the final Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman will open in theaters on March 3, 2017. Right now, it isn’t exactly known what it will be about, but rumors and hints have made it seem as if it will be centered on the Old Man Logan story from the comic books.
As for Tom Hardy wanting to take over the role of Logan? No one really knows if he would even be willing to do it. There’s been no real word if he’s interested or even if the part would be offered to him, but having the soon-to-be former Wolverine giving him a referral isn’t too bad.
Hugh Jackman first took on the role in X-Men back in 2000, and fans have loved him in the part, but he’s ready to move on.
The role of Wolverine is one that has only ever really been known with Hugh Jackman. It’s going to be hard to imagine anyone else in that role, but Tom Hardy could be a pretty good choice, and fans would likely take to him in it.
