WWE News: Backstage Update On Sting’s WWE Future, Possible Spinal Injury?
Sting’s WWE career went from the highest note to the lowest when he sustained an injury at Night of Champions against Seth Rollins. To reiterate what happened, Rollins powerbombed Sting into a corner, and he immediately collapsed. Once the doctor and referee checked on him, the match only continued for another minute. Sting was unable to win, but that wasn’t the important factor after the match concluded.
The WCW legend’s health is in jeopardy after Night of Champions. Immediately following the pay-per-view, he went to the hospital and got checked out. Sting’s manager sent out the following statement.
“As many of you may already know, Sting is undergoing treatment for the injuries he sustained in last night’s match with Seth Rollins. Doctors will continue to evaluate his condition, but he is a man of remarkable health and resiliency, especially at his age and with all he’s endured throughout his stellar career. Therefore, we are optimistic he will have a speedy recovery and return to full health soon. Sting has kept his body in excellent shape, due largely to the guidance he’s received from his personal trainer Jeff Cavaliere (ATHLEAN-X), and we trust this will prove beneficial to the recovery process. As a side note, we later learned the greatest damage to his body took place before the match was over, but being the true professional he is and among the hardest workers to ever step foot in the ring, he insisted to see the match through to the end.”
There’s more backstage news on Sting’s status. The hospital visit came back positive with no fractures. Damage was still done, but the good news is that his neck isn’t broken. If it were, his WWE career would’ve ended that night. According to Daily Wrestling News and PWInsider, the possibility of a spinal injury is there.
“We don’t know what the prognosis on Sting is yet but it’s possible he could have wrestled his last match, at least for a while. WWE officials will likely be leery of putting Sting back in the ring.”
Anything to do with the is serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Going back to Edge’s retirement, spinal stenosis was the culprit and the WWE couldn’t let him wrestle any more. Could Sting suffer the same fate? If he has the same risk as Sting did, then consider his wrestling career over. No WWE fan wants to see that, so hopefully the WWE figures out how to keep him active until he gets that first WrestleMania victory.
