WWE News: Big Update On ‘WrestleMania 32’ Plans For Brock Lesnar — Which WWE Legend Will Return To Face ‘The Beast’?
It appears that WWE has changed their WrestleMania 32 plans for both Brock Lesnar and Undertaker, as they’ve decided to have the rubber match between the two take place at next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, which will be part of Brock Lesnar’s “Go To Hell” tour.
Speaking of the “Go To Hell” tour, it was announced that Lesnar will be taking on Big Show on October 3 at Madison Square Garden, and he will also be appearing on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s podcast on October 19 after Monday Night RAW.
Lesnar appearing on Austin’s podcast has gotten some people thinking that WWE changed their original WrestleMania plans for “The Beast” because they’ve finally gotten a commitment from the “Texas Rattlesnake,” therefore Austin vs. Lesnar will be taking place at WrestleMania 32, and the purpose of Lesnar’s appearance on Austin’s podcast is to hype the match, much like Austin and Paul Heyman did several months ago.
While “Stone Cold” vs. Brock Lesnar is possible, the more likely opponent for “The Beast” is someone that WWE has been wanting to get in the ring with Lesnar since the spring of 2013, and that someone is none other than future WWE Hall of Famer, and the world’s number one box office attraction, The Rock.
According to Cage Side Seats, WWE is considering having Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock main-event WrestleMania 32.
“According to Dave Meltzer, unless Vince McMahon changes his mind, Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker is no longer the plan for WrestleMania 32. The match at Hell in a Cell will be the blow-off match. That could mean that we’re finally getting that Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock match WWE has long wanted to put together.”
There were rumors that The Rock was going to team up with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag-team match at WrestleMania 32. However, Rousey likely won’t be appearing at WrestleMania 32, so the mixed tag may be bumped back to WrestleMania 33 in 2017.
If you look at WWE’s main-roster, there really isn’t anyone who makes sense as Lesnar’s opponent at what’s going to be the biggest WrestleMania of all-time. Some would suggest a rematch with Roman Reigns, and while WWE is interested in doing that match again, it probably won’t be at WrestleMania 32. There’s also Randy Orton, who many feel would be a great opponent for Lesnar. However, much like the Lesnar vs. Reigns rematch, WWE probably isn’t interested in doing Orton vs. Lesnar at its biggest show of the year.
So, when you step back and look at the possible opponents for Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, there are really only two names that make sense — The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and there’s a good chance we’ll find out which direction WWE is going in when Lesnar appears on Austin’s podcast.
