WWE News: Another Legend Returns At ‘Night Of Champions’ — Did Sheamus Cash In?
WWE Night of Champions has now come and gone with a number of title changes, but also a few surprises thrown in there. Early in the night, Chris Jericho returned to partner with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. After the completion of the main event, Sheamus ran out to try and cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but his attempt was thwarted by the return of yet another WWE legend in Kane.
Kane didn’t just return to WWE. He returned under the mask as the “Big Red Machine” and was ready to cause havoc in the ring once again as Corporate Kane is gone.
Seth Rollins had just lost the United States Title to John Cena and then had to face off with Sting to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Title. As recapped by WWE.com, Seth Rollins did end up retaining his title in a hard fought battle with the icon.
As Rollins celebrated in the ring, Sheamus’ music hit and he ran down to the ring to cash in his briefcase. Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick and went to hand the briefcase to the referee, but his momentum was stopped as Kane’s pyro went off on the stage.
Kane’s music hit and he came out from backstage with his old gear on and the mask of the “Big Red Machine” as well. As reported by WrestleZone, Kane entered the ring, picked up Seth Rollins and delivered a vicious chokeslam to the WWE champion.
During this time, Sheamus had escaped from the ring, but entered it again with a smile on his face. Sheamus told Kane to hit Rollins with another choke slam and was hoping he would so that he could cash in on his WWE Title opportunity.
Instead, Kane choke-slammed Sheamus who then rolled out of the ring. Kane then picked up Seth Rollins and delivered a devastating Tombstone piledriver to the champ and that took the event off the air.
Kane has been off of WWE television since July to sell the “broken ankle” he received from Brock Lesnar. After that attack, Seth Rollins berated and talked down to Kane who was laying on the ground in pain.
Actually, Kane was off filming the movie 6:42 for WWE Studios and production has since wrapped. The Big Red Machine returned at Night of Champions, stopped Sheamus from cashing in, and waged war on WWE champion Seth Rollins.
